I love my diffusers but using too often raises the humidity too much. I started using a cheap cotton wash cloth hidden in each room, and in the bottom of all trash cans. Once a week I add several drops to each cloth. I always watch clearance isles for essential oils to cheaply build up my supply. No electricity used, no toxic fragrances.

You’re very resourceful! Just be careful buying cheap essential oils, because most of them are not pure adulterated or not even real at all. You’re likely breathing in toxins with those.

Pure oil of turpentine / pine oil is a great clean smell, very cheap in bulk , sometimes called terabinth , dont buy turps, or turpentine substitute , smell like Christmas trees.
