This video is completely BS… DNS has NOTHING NOTHING to do with download speed… Only access speed can increase. But he is “proving” that the download speed is increasing. BS!! When starting a download, ONLY at the first moment to resolve the domain, the DNS is being used. After that 0 times again during the WHOLE download process. So… no! it wont make your wifi faster nor the wired connection. But it can only feel like it is faster coz the resolving time of a domain can be faster or slower by DNS, but NEVER the download speed!!

I would also suggest if your computers are older, make sure your router and wifi cards are up to the latest wifi spec. I didn’t realize I was still running 802.11G and N chipsets on my two PCs. After upgrading router and wifi cards to 802.11ax I went from 9Mbps on G and 90Mbps on N to 234Mbps for both on a 200 Mbps plan 👍🏻

Best thing you can do. Config a static wifi channel with the most less overlapping in channels in the area. Config the preamble. Config the legacy traffic options, some may consume more cpu processing, and dont need that kind of option in this day of topology. This besides the DNS makes it alot more comfy for your router. As far as you may have them in the config, if you have your own router. However i would prefer my own gateway DNS.

I respect this video, so won't name-drop another DNS, the one that I can use. I see many in the comment section aren't US-based either. I can testify that changing DNS does make a difference. Some routers won't let you, so sometimes you can go to your device and change it there, but really you want to change it in the router. Some ISPs don't like it, but who cares what they like.

For my results -- very surprised, old averages DOWN: 135 Mbps, UP: 20 Mbps; new averages DOWN: 189 Mbps, UP: 23.5 Mbps using Primary DNS 1.1.1.1 and Secondary DNS 1.0.0.2

I have not used my isp dns servers for 12 years..i have been using opendns..it does same thing your talking about. Opendns is free for consumer's..i have had no issues

Pretty much what I said. By using their dns you get content filtering which means better protection for your network (and family) and there is no speed degradation

Zeropath No, it’ll only change your device, as long as you don’t enable the family setting, you’ll be safe. I can’t speak on the family settings, because I don’t use it. I use cloudflare 1.1.1.1 myself, and I’m very happy with it. Have a wonderful time. Bless your heart.
