Long comment coming up. I'm currently learning Korean after considering it for a few years now, I never had the motivation to learn another language despite the fact that I had really wanted to for so long. Growing up and enjoying Korean culture along with meeting Korean people made me realize it's a language with elegance at times. Nothing motivated me until I met this guy I liked, I won't disclose personal information but honestly he's so funny, kind and just overall a person I want to be with in the future. He just so happens to be Korean, born there before moving to a different country. His family obviously speaks Korean and suddenly, it became my motivator. Motivation to impress the family of the man I hold a spot so dearly for in my heart. I don't just want to be another girlfriend who leaves no impression, I want to be able to communicate with them as if I am family themselves, I want to be able to understand all their troubles and all their emotions without feeling as if I'm missing out. Being a Latina woman family has been engraved in my head since the minute I was born, knowing the difference your connection to one's family can make when you understand their language. So, here I am in a youtube comment basically professing my love for a man who I'm not yet with but, to hopefully one day I will and I will be able to look his family in the face and say "안녕하세요, 저는 조하윤입니다."
