Useful apps for korean learning, busuu ( good but not enough courses but it can help you as a beginner ) Falou, (good but u gotta pay for the full app. Still good otherwise tho) Memrise, ( no ai voice ) Duolingo is how I started but the ai voice makes it really hard to master pronunciation skills aswell as listning. I'm still new to korean but these have helped way more than duolingo! :)

cute video! i just personally think everything should be formal, since it's for beginners for now...and it's nasalization that makes the 'm' sound like 'b' and the 'n' sound like 'd'🫶🏽
@Learn.Korean.With.Kdramas3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment, nasalization also exists in Korean but in these cases we are talking about denasalization. It is the loss of nasal airflow where nasal consonants like [m] and [n] lose its nasality and are heard as [mb] and [nd]. As I like to explain, it's like trying to say for example [ne] while pinching your nose, thereby blocking the air through your nose to get a similar pronunciation as in Korean. 😁

Yes, Korean has very different sounds compared to English which sometimes makes transliteration difficult, and should just be considered an approximation. For this reason it is often recommended not to focus on the Romanization of Korean words too much but to learn to read Korean as early as possible, which I also have made several videos about. Thanks for watching! 🙂

can anyone explain when they say for ex : geuligo ..it sounds like "KHeuligo" and not the G soung. same when they say "gwenchana" it sounds like KHAEnchana.... are they really saying G or KH only?
@Learn.Korean.With.KdramasАй бұрын
Good question! The Korean consonant ㄱ is often Romanized as a "G", but you shouldn't attach too much importance to Romanization as it is often just an approximation and Korean has very different sounds. When ㄱ is at the beginning of a word, it is voiceless like in the English word "Kate", as you noticed. Compare this with the word "Gate" and notice how your throat vibrates and produces sound when pronouncing the G. ㄱ can also have this voiced /g/ sound in Korean, when it is in the middle of a word and right after another voiced sound, since it is very difficult to pronounce a voiceless consonant immediately following a voiced sound. Hope that makes sense! 😁

@Learn.Korean.With.Kdramas3 ай бұрын
No worries, there are often multiple ways to express the same thing, especially in Korean due to the different levels of politeness, though often with slight nuances. 모르겠어요 [moleugesseoyo] has a less direct meaning as in "I don't know/I'm not sure", whereas 몰라요 [mollayo] is more firm and can even come across as "I don't know/I don't care". Hope that helps! 😁

Do they pronounce L as R?
@Learn.Korean.With.Kdramas3 ай бұрын
Good question! Strictly speaking it's neither an English L or R, but somewhere in between. However, this also depends on if the consonant is at the beginning, middle or end of a Korean word. When it's in the middle, like with 그래 [geulae] then it's usually pronounced more like an R. If it's at the end of a word, it usually has more an L sound 😁
