SIX years later and this video is still helping people! I didn't have enough wrapping paper for a baby shower gift, but I have a ton of cardstock. I decorated the lid with a square of the leftover wrapping paper and tied some ornamental lace around it. It worked great! THANK YOU for doing this video!!!

This has gotta be one of the best tutorials out there for making a simple paper/card box for gifts of any size. A paper cutter is nice but I made boxes to gift a loaf of bread and another for a canvas (painting) using just a blade, rulers, double sided tape and a bit of patience. The formulas for determining the margins are super duper clear and helpful. 10/10 definitely saving this as one of my go-to craft resource.

I just spent so much time looking for nice boxes on the internet at a good price, while sitting amidst my DIY/Crafty nonsense...wait a minute...I can look up a tutorial on YT! Found this, and I JUST finished making THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BOX with the exact colors I was looking for with what I already have! I am literally in shock, as a new-ish crafter. I wanna cry with happiness! Best tutorial ever. THANK YOU!!!!!!

Okay, you're my hero tonight. In the past year, I've gotten really into making my own beauty products and I decided to make "Beauty Bags" for Christmas gifts. I found the perfect bag to sew, but I needed boxes for the face soap and lotion bars I'm mailing. This isn't the first box-making tutorial I've tried, but it *is* the least complicated and most exact. Since I'm not a paper crafter and don't want to invest in much to make these boxes, I had to use what I have on hand. Fortunately, I am a sewist, so I've got measuring tools galore. I used an acrylic ruler and the back of a butter knife to make the scores. And now I'm prepared to make (10) 4" x 2" x 1" boxes and (20) 4½" x 3¾" x ¾" boxes. This is genius!

Oh My Goodness!! I have been struggling FOR YEARS to make custom sized boxes. It's been an endless road of box tops Way to large for the bottom, trashed sample after sample. It's all so clear now, and it's just been 1/16 of an inch between trash and treasure. Thank you so much!

WOW! Thank you SOOO much for doing the math for us. This video alone has earned Stampin Up more of my craft business. Gracias! And, I would add that there was no special Stampin Up equipment needed to make those boxes happen. (well, except for showing the papers and trimmer, both of which I already have). That seems like a real dedication to your customers, to help them create without having to buy any of your supplies.

Dear Donna, I have to agree with Sandra Cedar: you DO have a lovely presence! The project that brought me to search for information on custom size boxes has nothing to do with gift wrapping. I am currently reorganizing our home and need custom size boxes to sort our household medication in categories and place them in one of our kitchen cupboards. I came across this video and watched it avidly, I have to say. I loved all of the advice that you had on making boxes! The shorter top so that the bottom can be seen, the smidge and especially your work sheet, which I have since made a template of. After I am done making the boxes for my kitchen cupboard, I will be sure to use your valuable advice for gift wrapping, as I love pretty handmade boxes. Thank you SO much for sharing!

I went searching for a tutorial on creating a box and this video is PERFECT!! I'm hosting a bridal shower and the bride's Grandma is not able to attend; so, she sent me a card to give the bride from her at the shower. I created a really cute rectangular box (thank you for the measurements!!!), made a little card and tied it together with light blue ribbon. I took pictures to e-mail to Grandma so she can see it. Great tutorial & wonderful instructions!

Thanks so much for this video! I normally make boxes for my dimensional 5 x 7 cards where I simply add an inch to the card measurements and score the bottom panel at the 1 inch measurement and after setting the top panel slightly off from the corner, also score that at the 1 inch mark. I then cut the four corner tabs to the score line and glue to create the finished box sections. For easy opening, I use a small circle punch to cut crescents on either side of the lid. I do from time to time need to make boxes for other purposes and struggle to get the correct measurements, so your video is invaluable in getting accurate measurements for the best fit! Thanks again!!!!!
