Thanks for the easy explanation, I can buy fabric & cut my own & not have to buy expensive pre-cuts. 😀

Exactly Christine, and you can buy fabric that you like, and not be confined to what's on offer :)

Thank you! My question is this: what happens if your fabric is only 34" due to a bad cut? I have a pattern for placemats using all fat quarters. The fabric I have meets the 22"; however, instead of getting 36" for the yard, I only got 34". So I can make the fat quarter 17"x22" . Would it be a real big problem if the pattern calls for only 18x22? Can I adjust the pattern If I make the usual 18x22?
@alandacraft4 жыл бұрын
It will depend, Joan. If the pattern calls for a fat quarter at 18"x22" and they trim the size back to 17" or less, then you will be able to get away with using those pieces that have been cut at 17"x22". However, if the pattern needs exactly 18"x22" then your smaller cuts won't work. But you will be able to use them for something else. Fabric never goes to waste. I hope this helps but if I have misunderstood your question please let me know.
