Here I'll show you how I easily turn "sew in" foam ( like By Annie's Soft & Stable which is my favourite kind to work with) into "fusible foam" using iron on adhesive such as Heat n' Bond Lite or any other fusible web for appliqué.
The foam I use: www.byannie.co...
The bag I'm working on is a not yet released pattern, but you can view all my current patterns here: www.pinkponyde...
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them in the comments. Thanks guys! ❤️

Thank you for the info. My 1st try on the vinyl it fused but the embossing on the vinyl melted. The second try I ironed the heat bond directly to the vinyl. Then I placed the foam and ironed with parchment paper. It worked beautifully. The vinyl held up beautifully.

I would imagine that fusible webbing such a stitch witchery or misty fuse could also accomplish this task. The teflon sheets are fantastic when working with fusible "stuff" . They also make great pressing cloths for quilt blocks that have high bias as they allow they provide a perfect surface to allow the iron to glide without any distortion to the block underneath.

Mind blown. I like sew in fusible foam. It seems to adhere most of the time without using anything. But this i have to try... for Science. 😂. Subscribed at cat hair.

I'll definitely try this! I know some people complain about wrinkles with fusible foam, have you had an issue and if so what do you do to fix them?
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign Жыл бұрын
Yes please do and let me know what you think! 😃 I don't have that issue when I make my own fusible foam this way. Ready made fusible foams don't have enough glue for it to hold on good enough during the birthing of a bag, nor for it be reheated and reset after birthing, so that's why you get those issues with set in wrinkles. When using fusible web instead you get much more glue, and glue of better quality so it won't come off the same way during birthing. And those little sections that might, can easily be pressed and reset again and again. But properly pressing any bag after birthing, and pre-shrinking your cotton fabric with an iron before fusing it is essential for a professional looking bag with any fusible interfacing. 😊

If working with vinyl, (using teflon sheets on top and bottom) do I glue a woven interfacing like SF011 first to the vinyl (I found vinyl does not glue well to fusible foams), then do the above process, then turn over the vinyl to the "right side" of vinyl and press quickly? Thanx
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign 9 ай бұрын
Yes that is usually what I do (when I don't just use this method if I'm unsure about the vinyl taking the heat: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4TMpGeGgcuheKssi=iLPrn_JfD2Sj80Nr ), most vinyls I work with can take the heat from the front well enough to be able to do this when using a fusible web - as they have enough glue to adhere without excessive heat being needed. However, always test on a scrap first =)

What about the wrinkling, most visible foam wrinkles like crazy and you can’t iron it out.,

Is it really cheaper?
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign 4 ай бұрын
I don't think so 😂 I do it because my favorite foam (By Annie's Soft and Stable) doesn't have a fusible version, and because all the fusible ones I have tried (won't mention names but I've tried all the big brands) have really bad glue in my opinion that doesn't hold up for actual use. I want my fused fabric to permanently stick to the foam so my bag looks professional and high quality, I really don't like getting little "bubbles" after using a bag for a few weeks where the fabric and interfacing has separated after being squished under my arm or accidentally sat on one time too many. 🤭 I hope that makes sense? 🥰

Where is the next part ?
@PinkPonyDesign
@PinkPonyDesign 6 ай бұрын
The next part is to sew your desired bag from your interfaced fabric, I have several videos showing when I sew my patterns using foam interfacing, like the the Almora bag or the Singapore Sling Bag for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amS5pZmLedSZpM0si=LUoP35tiv582a6XJ 😊
