Coronavirus (COVID-19) has people so worried about getting sick that hand sanitizer is selling out. Here's how to make your own hand sanitizer if needed.

I'll save you 5 minutes. 2 parts 90+% alcohol + 1 part aloe vera gel. That's it. You can add a few drops of something that smells nice.

Recipe starts at 2:35 Use two parts 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol and one part aloe vera gel. If desired, to make it smell better, you can use a _couple of drops_ of any essential oil you like, but it’s not necessary.

It needs 90% alchohol because when you add the aloe vera gel it will dilute the alchohol to around 47% 50% which is useless. The cdc says that it has to be 70% and up. So get the highest percentage of alchohol. Most likley 90 through 95 and if your germofobe then use 99% alchohol. Like if this helped and also your welcome.

Because sometimes, and hear me out, you HAVE TO GO TO THE STORE TO GET FOOD. So I keep hand sanitizer in my car because there's no sink with soap and water in my car. Just saying.... After touching the buttons at the cash register, the handle of the shopping cart, the food, the bags, etc. I don't want to touch my steering wheel. I load up my trunk, I use the hand sanitizer in my car, which I'm now afraid of running out of, and when I get home, I wash my hands, and unload the groceries. I need a solution for when the sanitizer in my car runs out because that day IS coming, and since everyone is hoarding it, I'll be SOL. By the way, these are things I always did well before there was a pandemic because it's the sanitary thing to do.

Well you can use xonrox or bleach mix it in the water to disinfect your surroundings, you can also use it to wash you hands, if bleach and soap not available you can you water and chlorine to disinfect,. Another tips. If you can't buy tissue paper because of the hoarders all you need is - Water, a deeper and a soap, we Filipino's usually doing that to washed our butts. Well it's up to you if you don't want to take my advice or tips :)

Most people don't know how to wash their hands, including myself lol - She interupted him before he finished... The backs of your hands, cross your fingers from the front AND the back, your thumb will get left out if you don't individually wrap it, plus isolating the tips and under the nails. He mentioned wetting the hands completely first before adding soap. Lastly 15 seconds is not long enough, 20+ seconds. Thank you.

if the essential oil is not a top quality oil it's useless and if it has fragrance as an ingredient, well fragrances can be carcinogenic! The EO she used look like an inferior brand probably adulterated. There are essential oils that have been researched and tested and found to have antiviral properties that repel viruses and may enhance the action of the hand sanitizer not just make it smell nice.

I'm from the UK, and I've watched a few presenters from the US. This lady above is so loud and shouty and constantly interrupting. Another, programme I watched was when an American news channel with 3-4 presenters were interviewing a retired British nurse, they constantly interrupted him when he had valuable information to speak of. I have no idea how people can watch these programmes and learn anything when the presenters act so rude, what is with them always being so shouty?? I'm sure all programmes can't be like this in the US, but I've watched a fair few now, and I just can't tolerate the brashness of it. Please respect your guests and talk in a calm manner and at an appropriate volume level. Just to let others know- there was an article saying that people aren't using hand sanitizer correctly because they were not using it on their wrists. So, it's important to clean your wrists as well Think about using antibacterial wipes- on car door handles- inside and out, gear stick, steering wheel, boot, and please don't forget your mobile phones. The best way- is regular cleaning of hands, children are not encouraged enough to wash their hands and this should be basic regardless of this current virus.

Please ignore the nonsense currently being espoused by lots of people (including this video) regarding cold water hand washing. It's true that warm water doesn't kill viri any better than cold water does. The reason to use WARM water is because it improves ionization of the soap with oil, sweat, grunge far better/faster than cold water does. You MUST break through the grunge to get to the contagion. Otherwise the viri can be isolated within the grunge, protected from the soap and remain on your hands. Have you ever had really greasy hands and washed them in cold water? It works but takes much longer. If you have only cold water then increase scrub time, increasing time the colder the water is. You may also need to double wash if it's very cold.

I'm not a doctor but, I've observed that if you wet your hands before applying liquid hand soap, it slips off and ends up in the sink or washes down the drain before you can get your hands very lathered. I apply the soap first and coat my hands thoroughly, then add a little water, turn off the tap and suds it up for 20 seconds. Then, turn the water back on to rinse completely. This saves soap and water and does a better job of cleansing. . Otherwise, you might as well squirt the soap directly into the drain. Stay well people!

Mixing what you're attempting to make with a kitchen spoon is not the way to do this.. If the aloe and alcohol are not properly incorporated into each other the resulting product will be ineffective . Also the addition of essential oils is absolutely unnecessary and only helps to dilute the percentage of alcohol in the mix.. Please people..Consult the C.D.C. website for more accurate information.

Excellent point. Extremely well said. Homemade hand sanitizer can be dangerous ineffective because it is rarely done properly. Essential oils themselves, can actually burn the skin and can be dangerous to certain individuals. Aloe not mixed properly with the alcohol can absolutely result in an ineffective product. Commercial mixers and thickening agents are the proper tools for formulating hand sanitizer which is actually illegal to sell in Most states as it is an over the counter drug. If you cannot find it in stores, please use soap and water which is the best tool that most people have.
