I'm making my own heatshield for a Range Rover with the BMW engine in the Uk. Tried sourcing this stuff, looks good what you have. I have some ali and glassfibre as per original.

Looks much easier to form than the 3mm aluminum I've just bought for my heatshield project :-D Going to require some brute force for that!

So whats inside/in between the aluminium layers? Looks like there's nothing in the middle of this product so just a piece of alloy with wrinkles? Others at least have a glass fiber inbetween the layers....People don't waste your money, get Inconel from Japan or the US it costs less and is way more effective!!!
@carbuilders14 жыл бұрын
Hi SovL:Remedy. Our exhaust heat shield is a multilayer heat shield to capture radiant heat and is different to the Inconel material product you have referenced. Correct, this version does not have a ceramic layer in between it for a number of reasons, however it is an affordable solution that produces impressive results. It can be cut and formed to replicate factory radiant shields and is capable with continuous temperatures of 650C. Yes, there are other products which can be clad directly to exhausts and use different layers between.

@@carbuilders1 The real issue is the price point is in the same field as Inconel and Ceramic layered products! Sheet per sheet is almost exactly the same price point as the Inconel Product, the only difference is the Inconel sheet is 200mm shorter but outperforms your sheets by massive margins at almost the same price!
@carbuilders14 жыл бұрын
Can you please send us a link of the product/s you are referring to?

@@carbuilders1 I'll let you do the searching, You should do your own market research as it's quite typical here to get a massive "up-mark" price compared to getting a product imported, typical AUS marketing, I will tell you one is from Platinum Gaskets (Heat shield) Multi-layer with ceramic filler ....The other is from Hiwowsport, there is a little variation in pricing of this product and is the most superior which is Inconel...Have fun!
@carbuilders14 жыл бұрын
We are well aware of these products but to reply to your comment we wanted to know which product you were specifically referring to so that we could compare apples with apples. The cheapest Hiwowsport Inconel heat shield on eBay is $128.59 from China or $88.40 plus $80 shipping from the US. These sheets are 30.5cm x 30.5cm which is smaller than our 30cm x 50cm sheets that are $42 with free delivery to metro areas in Australia (half the price of the US shipping alone). Also all ceramic filled heat shields are more than double the price of our Embossed Heat Shield. We are currently in the process of developing a similar product that will be DIY priced.
