@jermainerace41562 жыл бұрын
While market desires and slaughterhouse expectations will vary from one location to another, and the size and weight of these categories also varies with the particular variety of hogs being raised, there are some general guidelines. I can't speak specific to Africa, but here in the U.S. piglets are generally up to 18kg, growers about 18kg - 56kg, and finishers are from 56kg to market weight, usually between 105kg - 136kg. These are approximations, of course, but know that pigs much over 136kg quickly becomes inefficient; their growth slows down and it takes more feed to put on the same weight. Also, as the pig becomes much larger, the meat becomes tougher, and the cuts become very large as well. As an example from a large old sow, say between 200kg - 250kg, a single rib chop might be over 1/2kilogram. This is far too large for a single-serving pork chop, so it is difficult to sell. Nevertheless, such large animals do make good sausage.

When mixing, do we use either Soya, or Fish or Cotton or Sunflower or we mix all this in the Maize bran. When done talk about fattening? I also see that broken maize is missing, is it unecessary or what? Are finishers only kept for nreeding or one can still fatten them further for slaughter.
@nebochineduh.z16442 жыл бұрын
Mr Charles once said that the biger the pig the lesser the protein, how the protein is more in that of finisher? or is that a mistake? Secondly, what about those making use of PKC, what would be the best formula for them?
