I hope you don’t mind, but I have a question. I’ve seen multiple videos now, but I cant quite figure this out. Is the side that you punch the actual rug side or is it the back?
@opus2628
@opus2628 2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for this questions! The side that you are punching is technically your backside, since it doesn't look shaggy or loopy like rug should be. So the back will be your rug facing up, side.Hope this helps!

Do you know what would happen if I snipped the loops on the front, once the glue dried on the back? I want to try making something where i can snip the loops and make it really fluffy and fuzzy looking. Would that work? I havent tried punch needling before
@opus2628
@opus2628 7 ай бұрын
Hey there, great question! I currently love this method of trimming and shearing once the glue is dry for that fluffy effect. I actually suggest using sheep shears or the carpet electric trimmer for a faster result (I use the blue,red,yellow carpet trimmer from Amazon). Hope this helps :)

How are you holding that while you're working ? On an art easel or just have it on your lap? The frame seems easy enough to build but I'm not sure how to keep it steady when I'm working.
@opus2628
@opus2628 7 ай бұрын
Hey there! I have one side laying on my lap and the other on a short stool. Takes some time to get used to, but an art easel would def better for the back haha

Curious to know where do you place your frame without the tack strips getting in the way?
@opus2628

Great question! i buy dollar store pool tubes, cut them down the one side so there’s one slit in the tube and then wrap those around the wood where the tack strips are so I don’t cut myself! Hope that answers your question :)

I think 15-20 hours, once I got the hang of it. Practiced for about 3-4 hours to get in the rhythm of things. Having a podcast or audio book to listen to can really help the time pass :)

Is it completely necessary to add staples even when you have the little nails on the frames? 👀 I bought the tack strips because I wanted to avoid stapling it jajaja. 😂
@opus2628
@opus2628 3 жыл бұрын
Its def up to you and your budget! You could go w/o the staples but I wouldn't recommend it. When you work on your rug overtime, you'll notice some of the tack strips not gripping as tight as they should and the staples just add that extra security! You'll want your monks cloth to stay as tight as possible so I would say it's worth the extra expense.
