You can cut off the cutter part off the looper pliers and just squeeze it to build shanks faster, the Frugal flyfisher channel on here tells you got he modified his looper

Robert Cole oh yeah for sure you can. It will cut it to a circle and you can also modify the tool by cutting off the curler part with a cut off wheel or dremel maybe. I like running the tag end all the way down because it builds a uniform shank. Probably doesn’t matter once you get all the material on there but it’s just a habit of always making things uniform

I use the 1.5mm the most

Yeah the 3.0 makes big loops. I’ve started using mostly the 1.5 for my game changers over time. Sometimes I do a 2.5 and a 1.5 on the same shank.

I’d just check the specs of the wire and google search it. I have a friend who uses stainless welding wire but the spools are huge

Thx for the video Svend. Have you had any problems bending the MALIN .029" hard leader wire or the wire breaking the 1-step looper tools that you use like the 1.5mm or 2.5 mm looper tool? Thx
