You can also dilute your acrylic paints with water as they are water based. Which saves on paint, makes it easier to apply and also covers better with less globs. You can also have way more brush strokes without having to re-dip your brush. You can even salvage the old clumpy paints by adding hot water to them and shaking it. Hope this helps.

Mannnn ive been doing art for so long and have always been patient and consistent with layering but recently ive been stuck in my head from seeing too many videos online thinking im painting wrong….great reminder just to follow what i naturally do instead of paying attention to others😂✌🏽

I had a feeling this is what it was. I 3d print and like using airbrush but I have a vegeta that probably need hand painting because of some detail and just did light coats over light coats over light coats for the hair and came out super good but didn’t know if it was a thing. But now I do so thank you.

I’ve been trying to get this effect for YEARS trying all kinds of paints and surfaces and never has anyone said this before. I’m going to attempt it tomorrow. I see you paint on canvas. Would this also work on wood surfaces like gesso board or clay board by ampersand? Also, have you tried golden’s new line of SoFlat acrylic?

Hey if you ever see this i want to say thanks for making this video. Although its a pretty simple idea, i really wouldnt have considered the importance. Thanks for the love and great question. Yes, I recommend using Gesso or a mat medium. I try to always buy Canvases that are prepped with Gesso already.

i noticed kaws's line is so precision like it printed. even on big canvas. how can i draw line smoothe like kaws? with acrylic paint on canvas.

Honestly I'm not sure on how Kaws paints, He uses "Golden" brand Liquid acrylics but I believe he mixes his black paint with something to make it more smooth. He also uses a pin stripe type brush for his lines.

@@xoxo-yf2ex Kaws uses very high end “liner or riggor” brushes that are used for lines/calligraphy as they hold a ton of paint and let you make longer lines than a typical brush. Rumor is he mixes his paint with a dark black ink as well but that’s never been confirmed. Also, he has insane amounts of control and technique and that matters more than any paint/brush that he uses.

But what do you do to keep the Layers light? The paint itself is so thick that it seems no matter what I do is globy and or streaky. Do you mix your paints with anything first, and then layer?

You can dilute acrylics with water. Or just use soft body acrylics, like Liquitex.
