To make the wand more stable, stronger structure Use armature or hanger wire ( from metal hangers) to be your wand's core than wrap it with the foil. The put the clay or sculpy on. You can bend it to matc the picture.

I’d recommend : Using a chopstick/thick skewer/tree branch for the base of your wand. Use twine/hot glue/string for embellishments. Make sure to use a ruler to measure out the size you would like. If you want your core to stand out, take tissue paper [not toilet paper] and use glue to lightly stick pieces of tissue in where you want the core to be. Make sure to coat a very light layer of glue. Then paint a light layer of your paint. [Make sure the glue fully dries before you add your paint layer. After you add the paint, let it dry overnight.] Lastly, if you don’t have varnish, take a spoon of craft glue [not white glue white glue is a bit different] and out in a few drops of water and mix. Apply a thin layer and let it set for about an hour.
@wizardryworkshop3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend not using a chop stick or skewer. They are both too thin. Good for quick party favors, but if you want a wand that looks real, use a wooden dowel or resin with a steel rod for the core. This video is specifically to recreate your Pottermore wand using clay. This is the easiest way to do it if you aren't good at carving wood.

Hey! A tip from a fellow polymer clay user, you can use 100% rubbing alcohol or clay softener to get fingerprints out of the clay! Just use a Q-tip and dip it in whichever fingerprint remover you choose to use and start rubbing gently and watch all your mistakes rub away! :D

Thank you for the info on how to make the boxes. I cant print them but as long as i have a the basic idea i can create one for each wand i make...some of my wands are very long or very curvy.....depends on what my maple tree donates..LOL So i will basically have to custom make each box. I do use the hot glue method on most of them but they are way more intricate and look much better then the basic chopstick ones since each is unique because of the wood.
