Hey beautiful people! In today’s tutorial I show you how I downsize the waist of my skirt by 2”. I’m using multiple ½” darts that have a ¼” distributed evenly on both sides. This technique can be applied to the waistband of shorts and pants too. If you try it, and it works for you, let me know in the comments. Happy sewing!

This is ridiculous easy. I always just chuck elastic in the waistband and then look at the finished product and wish it'd lay flat. Amazing 💚

I have been making my clothes all larger than they should be just to be on the safe side and I have been struggling with finding ways to sort of shrink them without cutting the fabric. Such a helpful tutorial - hoping this will help me fix a few skirts I have! Do you notice the darts on the inside of the skirt while wearing it? I have sensory issues and am slightly worried the folded fabric will drive me crazy😂 (still probably won't drive me as crazy as a skirt that's too big!)

this works on denim as well. you just have to bring the darts down a little bit further. try it this way and see what happens. no question is dumb when it comes to sewing 🤗
