This may seem like a stupid question - When you're sewing it shut I assume you are sewing the elastic band into place as well, won't this make the elastic band integrity less causing it to break easy? I want to try but Just wondering how long this actually lasts.

How do you determine the length of elastic to use?

Like 5 cm (or more) shorter than your intended length. Just safety pinned it and try on first. If it’s still too long, you can trim it. But it’s elastic, it’s not gonna matter much anyway.

Look at the 2:50 minutes where she turned to look underneath the belt loop, it show that she sewed through the elastic and fabric of the other side as well. Hope it helps
