I agree Maestra, it is not only the strings which produce a good sound... it involves the rosin, your technique, your bow, the quality of your violin and the wood it was created from. in Mexico, they tend to give too much credit to guitars made in #ParachoMichoacan When I met a friend who mentioned that her brothers used to make guitars in Paracho because that was their business; I was not very impressed when the guitar she had brought from her hometown came apart and bent out of shape. However, she stored it in humid conditions, and of course, any piece of wood will react to such conditions. I know a bit more about guitars bec. I learned that first, but it was just a small anecdote I thought you would appreciate, since you mention what factors can affect the sound of a violin. Thank you for being there for us to learn and play your videos over and over without getting you upset.

3 Larsen. Significantly better than the D'Addario. The Pirastro sounded great but I preferred the warmth of the Larsen.

Lovely playing and great review. I like Tonica strings - cheap, warm, stable. Now I need to try the Larsen's! 😁

Larsen Tzigane ...these strings have an interesting sound.

I liked the Larson's best followed by the Preludes. I had the Pirastro on my violin but hated the sound and poor tuning stability.

I'm 100% in agreement with your assessment. I just don't understand why Kennedy has a habit of putting preludes on even intermediate violins, and giving free cheap strings no one in their right mind will use, as there are so many great synthetic choices these days. On a better violin, you can't go wrong with EPG, but on intermediate instruments, LT's, DPA's, and even basic Dominants with a better E can be good choices depending. Thanks for the video Zlata.👏😘👨🏻

I don’t quite understand why some fiddle players prefer steel strings. I’ve never liked them.
@Creationhorse10 ай бұрын
@@nickiemcnichols5397Steel strings work well for playing in different tunings, like AEAE for fiddle tunes. Some Fiddlers use synthetic on their standard tuning violin, and Steel strings on their cross tuner fiddle.

Hi zlata, after a season with an orchestra, I changed my warchal amber strings to tzigane from larsen. They have on my violin a super soft warm mellow sound, better than the warchal ones. Just the E string is bad on my violin I just whistle , just like with the E thomastik orchestra 😳. Awful 🫣, even on my cheap violin i don't make the e string whistel like that. The more I take care of my bowing hand, the more it whistles. Luckily I had some warchal spare E strings, and no more whistle! That is what I can say about the tzigane larsen strings, witch otherwise sound beautiful (and recommended by Muesing)

This review was excellent! You chose a nice wide variety of strings on the same violin, and I think, the same bow. I have an idea that I might prefer the Larsen Tzigane ones, not sure, my violin is toward the warm side.

Thank you for your review it helps! I was wondering about the larsen tzigane which are recommended by muesing too ( i am the lucky owner of a C3 bow hehe ). I have thomastik orchestra but i prefer warchal amber for the E string, and the A string 😊 I Will give the tzigane a try, definitely 😊

Hi Zlata, what is the result on the G string, between the larsen and the pirazzi? For me, I liked the tzigane really. I think I would get a try on my violin too😊

Thank you for this interesting review. I share your opinion on the tzigane and EP gold. The first two sounded more metallic, the other two much warmer and complexer sounding. Love the overtones of EP gold. I play on a warm bright ca 1770 french violin. Had EP green on them but found them difficult to play, too painful and too slippery, not much grip. Sound was wonderful at first but less so after few weeks. Also it was too dominant for my ensemble. For more comfort changed to obligato. But now miss the overtones and bit of power. Are in doubt what to put on next. Are the gold and green evah similar in feel on the left hand? Or gold more similar to obligato? And do you know if larsen and obligato differ a lot? Oblligato are also known for slow response. In terms of sound probably the gold have the same 'problem' of being too loud or is evah green more present than gold? Thank you for your insight.

I haven't used the Green much to be honest, but I've heard that the Golds are mellower, so perhaps also a little less present. You can also use this chart for reference: www.violinlounge.com/strings

I'm looking forward to what you think of the Larsens on your older violin 😊. Btw, how do you think the Kennedy Soloist violin compares to the Fiddlerman Soloist violin?

I haven't tried the Fiddlerman Soloist. Perhaps in the future!
