Dear Eric. Thank you so much for your honest review! Yes, while the Il Cannone Gold do have a pretty steep purchase price, we still want to argue that they are cost-effective in the long run due to their long lifetime. It IS the highest grade gold on the G and D, so there is a considerable material cost. We also want to tell you that the A and E strings are not gold, and therefore do not have the same longevity as the G and D. This is also the reason why the price of the A and E strings in the gold set are the same as our Il Cannone Direct & Focused A and E strings. No added cost there. We do hope you're still happy with your gold AND Il Cannone Direct & Focused Soloist strings and look forward to follow you in your future endeavors.

All your videos are interesting and mainly very useful but at the end of the day the crucial question has to be - are these strings worth all that money and/or are they any better than say, Dynamos?

You are an excellent Player and the Larsen Strings are wonderful❤ In my opinion the strings are better now after "relaxing" and beeing played for some time than after being put on the Violin as new out of the box. Lovely balanced, focuse and resonance, e-string sounds very beautiful 🥰

I do definitely think the strings were more brilliant fresh out of the box. A good thing if you’re looking for something to use right away. Yet even now they still feel settled and more resonant than lower tier strings. The price is a huge deterring factor for the average player but they’re not really being advertised as such. To go with your car analogy, like paying for a luxury vehicle as opposed to something more “everyday.” How would you compare it to your regular choice of strings?

I mean, they sound like a fantastic set of strings. But right now they are 400 euros on thomann. If they don't last 4 times (at least) more than the regular Il Cannone Soloist I don't really see the point. I get that they sound great but really most string sets at around the 100 euro price point will sound amazing and there will definitely be a set out there that will fit your violin at that price point and probably even at a lower one. They seem just a bit over the edge in terms of price to me, even if they use fantastic and pure materials for the winding.

I will admit that these strings are AMAZING, but not for everyone. Not just in terms of price, but in terms of how it sounds on your violin. Yes, you can spend 400 euros, but you will also get a lot of longevity with these strings by following the Larsen string cleaning guide on their website.
