Although I like that this video is essentially saying "The best way to deal with riots is to make sure the needs of your prisoners are mostly met", but I really hope that isn't the only solution. I hope there's some sort of suppression / oppression system where even if all the prisoners are very unhappy, if punishments and security are extremely strict and prisoners are separated from each other they won't just riot anyway. Not asking for the game to be entirely 1984 lol but a lot of prisons run that way, and we should have that option.

On a similar note to this, I hope we can also have more control over where prisoners are and go in the schedule compared to PA1. I remember in PA1 I'd spent literal hours perfecting the schedules and patrol timetables so, even with the absolute minimum number of guards, I could keep hundreds of prisoners suppressed based on where they were. And then an update breaks it and the prisoners proceed to just go wherever they want in most regime timeslots.

Since the riot mechanic depends on prisoners taking over regions of the prison by overwhelming your guards, a high enough guard force could pacify potential rioters without actually meeting their needs. Though it may take a lot of doctors and paramedics, I reckon :P

Dear development team, It is well known that many prisons have special rooms for officers where they can equip themselves appropriately in the event of a riot, for example with police shields or similar equipment. I have some concerns. In the first Prison Architect, the absolute best way to deal with a riot was to have about 200 guards set to Freefire Mode. Why mess with perfection?

We need diagonal walls! Every prison in America built after 1980 has diagonal walls. They make space utilization more efficient and make indirect observation easier by avoiding blindspots. This is the thing that made PA1 almost unplayable to me. I kept having wasted space when I tried making my housing units more efficient.

One quick idea is that you gain more riot squads available as your prison grows. I feel once your prison is massive 8 guards aren’t going to do much against an onslaught of inmates. Although thinking about it that would make the game naturally harder overtime so take your pick 🤷‍♂️

I hate the fact that protective custody, gangs, and death row are missing. If PA2 had all the features the base game of PA1 had, I would be very pleased. I am too lazy to write a suggestion on their forum. I do hope it's common sense for the developers to realize that what the players expect is for PA2 to have all the features the base game of PA1 had.

Lastly... PA1 had a special feeling, even during riots the music adjusted based on what was going on. I will link a video to that, sadly I didn't see anything like that exist in the video here. Dear development team, Please add realistic gangs to this game that reflect the modern situation in America. In most prisons, gangs are divided by race and often need segregation also known as different "cars". The black car, the mexican car, the white car and the others car. It would be nice to see you add realistic gangs to this game and that can ACTUALLY be dangerous. In Pa1 you could just move the gang leader to supermax, avoiding the chaos that happens when you put a gang leader in solitary. In real life, gang leaders hold immense power and the prisons allow them to exist because of this

I dont think segregation would ever be added, but might be moddable. Prison Architect as a series has never been super down to earth and hard hitting - nor should it! It's a game at the end of the day. From what I have seen in the videos, gangs are included but not officially. Instead they are connections. If anything that gets down to what gangs are at it's core

the skylines 1 and 2 isnt fair, 1 got years of support, updates, dlc and mods, without them it would be way worse than 2 at release, i still remember the bugs at launch and short comings of the engine vividly. 2 has a far more complex system, however yes it does not work yet the game is released way too early, but it is more complex and has way more potential

They also thought about removing it some times but decided on keeping it since in some places it is essential

i really hope they make this game alot harder and complex. Once you knew a few exploits it just made the first game so easy. Like i hate that you can just spawn guards directly ontop of inmates basically avoiding any deaths unless its an insta kill. Please remove this, add more random events, make things more expensive and add upkeep to things. And make the conditions for failure far lower.
