What about the gauge cluster? The automatic shows the gear the car is in. Did you swap that too?

No we left the cluster. Once you reprogram the ecu to manual the letters on the cluster go away and that screen is blank.

I have the Ross tech vcds with hex 2 that will allow use with 10 vins currently

I have mk4 tdi 1998 with transmission changed to manual from previous owner I dont have reverse light can u tell me what to look and how to fix that issue 😢

Reverse lights will be at the 175 relay. The wire is prolly just sitting in there. You will have to get it out to the reverse switch wire that’s at the transmission. I think the wire inside is is at pin 4 black and blue wire. That wire goes to the reverse lights. The reverse sensor is on top of the transmission where the shifter lever is.

Not sure about the transmission but everything else should be the same or very close

Just would have bought a 5 speed rather than do all this work tbh

5 speeds are getting difficult to find for a good price. People also don’t want to let them go. Some of the auto tdi’s are in way better shape than the manuals even so they’re a perfect donor for the swap. They’re also worth a lot more with the swap if you ever want to resell them 🤷🏽‍♀️ and if it’s your only car, makes it much more reliable and fun to drive. Some can’t just afford to buy a different one.
