How to Manually Calibrate the GameSir G7 SE

GameSir was about to replace my controller, but wanted me to try a manual calibration. I had calibrated my controller many times before in the GameSir Nexus app on Xbox and PC, but I didn't know a manual calibration existed.
This fixed my controller!

My comment might be old but I would like to thank you for this. I kept recalibrating my G7 SE thru the Nexus app but have issue with BOTH my Left and Right Trigger being stuck. I keep detecting in both from Gamepad tester and Nexus app it is stuck at 20-60% of the time for unknown reason and glad I found that i'm not the only one suffering for this. Thru Manual Calibration, it fixed my Stuck L/R Trigger issue. BTW, Im at 6.30 firmware update too.

Try downloading the GameSir Nexus app on your Xbox and see if it recognizes the controller. If it sees your controller and it still isn't acting right, could also try updating it through the app. If you have a PC available, you may want to try it on there. (The GameSir Nexus app is also available in Windows)

I would recommend updating. They have made some improvements that are great. But full disclosure of perks and occasional issues before upgrading.....you may have to calibrate after an update, manually or through the app. There have been occasional issues after updating, but this can be fixed by downgrading the firmware by getting the file and instructions from GameSir's Discord (but it may take awhile to get them to respond). Updating the firmware allows you to increase the report rate, but supposedly Xbox believes increasing the report rate creates an unfair advantage, so you can only increase the report rate through the GameSir Nexus app on PC (they took the option away on the Xbox app).

That's an interesting question. I can see how it could be useful for some games. I checked in the settings of the controller's app and I do not see how that would be possible. However, I think it could be possible with a physical alteration. If you could find someone that knew how to design and 3D Print something that could replace the friction ring on the controller and block left & right movement, that could work. Doing that kind of work is a skill I do not have. But I have hired people on Etsy to create STL files so I could get my ideas 3D printed by someone else (also on Etsy). That's the only solution I can think of, and it won't be quick or cheap, but it would be a cool mod... Plus, after it is created, you own the rights to the STL file, so you could sell the file to others or have them 3D printed and sell the actual product. There may be other ways to do it, but, that's the only way I can think of.

So my main issue was, my left trigger was to shoot and aim, (I play cod mainly) so obviously that wasn’t right, it should be simply to aim in and right trigger should be to shoot which it was. I did this method that you showed and it fixed my left trigger, but now I have a new problem lmao. My right trigger is shooting but it’s shooting bursts and I’m using automatic weapons, any idea what I can do to fix that now ?

Do you know what version of firmware you are using? Also, in Fortnite, when I had hair triggers selected int he GameSir app, it did the same thing. I changed them to have no dead zones instead and it has been fine since then.

@@Luscombag it’s on the very latest update, but the fact you need to lower the dead zone completely is pretty dumb brother man, just for the controller to work especially, it should be working how it’s intended straight out the box.

@@santiagomunoz9298 the only reason I lower the dead zones was to make the triggers as sensitive as possible. If I set the hair triggers it made them sensitive, but it would not allow me to hold it down for full auto weapons. The trigger would deactivate if I held it down longer than a few seconds. So that is the solution I came to.

Ive had no issues with mine up until 2-3 weeks ago. My sensitivity felt faster than normal, recalibration fixed it but now another issue has arised, it feels faster aiming to the right than it is to left, it feels like the aim assist is messed up, i just cant keep my aim on the target, my aim also pulls down right when i grip the controller. Thought i was getting worse all of a sudden but starting to think it could be the controller.

I have to ask: The controller is a GameSir G7 or GameSir G7 SE, correct? If so, try a different cable. The factory cables have been known to have issues out of the box, or with minimal use.

Mine was on when I did it.... Though, as long as it has power, I assume it would still work. If evening is working right until you get to the pressing A button, I would recommend trying a different cable. The one that comes with it isn't that good. It could be shorting out or not registering all the inputs.

@@F1TZGER4LD The update could have messed it up. I had an issue after an update and had to downgrade my firmware to fix it (I have since updated and it has been fine). To downgrade, go to GameSir's Discord channel and in the troubleshooting section, ask for the downgrade file and instructions for the version that last worked well for you.

@@mohammadmacapundag9559 If you have a PC, you could connect it to the PC and see if it works. On either PC or Xbox, download the GameSir Nexus app and see if it recognizes the controller. If the app doesn't recognize the controller, you might want to try a different cable because the quality of the factory cables is hit & miss.... If the app doesn't recognize that your controller is connected, send it back because you probably have a bad one. I'm not sure. If you just got it, you probably don't have the latest firmware. You may want to update your controller which can be done on the Xbox or Windows app called "GameSir Nexus"

If the normal calibration or the manual calibration doesn't work, you probably need a new one. But you may want to try a different cable first to see if that could be the problem.

I had the exact same problem with it going to the bottom of the Xbox. Mine was because the controller was should RT was constantly activated. Mine started directly after an update. I got in GameSir's Discord and downgraded my firmware (had to request the downgrade file and instructions) then I did a manual calibration. The GameSir Discord can be very helpful, but they are not in a hurry. It can take days or weeks of back and forth communication to get anything done.

Also, on gamepad tester the frequencies on the sticks are breaking out the max on on corners, even after the manual calibration.

I didn't have a problem with the app being installed, but I experienced issues with stick sensitivity and a trigger being activated all the time after updating the controller. I downgraded my firmware (I got the file & instructions from discord) That fixed my stick sensitivity, but the manual calibration fixed my trigger issue.

guys my controller works perfectly fine, i had remapped my rt button wuth my a button and when i went back to change it i took away my a button so i have two rt buttons, one is my rt, and one is my a. i cant open anything or try to reset it bc i cant open anything. what should i do?

The quickest and easiest way to fix it is to connect it to a PC and use the GameSir Nexus app and a mouse/touchpad to make the changes to the controller. If you don't have a PC, press the M & Y buttons at the same time (while the controller is on) this should revert back to the default setup. This will allow you to use the controller to get back into the Xbox GameSir Nexus app and choose one of the other profiles to make the changes you want. The downside to this method, is you won't be able to change the profile where you had two RT buttons, or at least I don't know how to do it. So if you had 2 RT buttons on Profile 1, you will not be able to use that profile unless you make the changes using the PC app.

To go get off the custom profile with problems and go back to the default profile, press M + Y on your controller.... BUT you will still have the problem with that profile. If you are on Xbox, download and open the GameSir Nexus app. Choose the profile with the issue. This will cause your problem to return so you will need a second Xbox controller that is turned on. Use the second controller to make the changes in the GameSir profile. I hope this helps.

I can’t even select that profile on my gamesir because I don’t have an “LSB” button and my a is bound to that, and I can’t use another controller because it says “no controller detected”. @@FoamyDragon Do you have a wireless controller where you can have your GameSir controller plugged in at the same time? Or a second USB port? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Xbox One, the Series X is my first Xbox and using my wireless controller worked for me. The only other option I think you have is to connect to the GameSir Nexus app on PC and use your mouse to change the profile. Let me know what ends up working for you so I know and can help others if they have the same problem. If not

I had intermittent issues due to the factory cable. Try changing the cable. Other than that, if it's under warranty, I'd connect who you bought it from or GameSir to get a new controller.

Idk. It might be a physical problem with the D-Pad, or possibly a short in the cable. I just looked at the GameSir Discord and there is someone that posited that and has their Down button on the D-Pad stuck. Was that you? If it started after an update, you may want to contact the troubleshooting on Discord and downgrade your firmware to see if it helps.

@@user-qw9zm5bv3q If you mean that L3 and R3 stick button presses are flipped, you can use the GameSir Nexus app to change them back. It's available on the Microsoft Store. If you mean the movement of the sticks is flipped, that's a new one to me, but resetting the profile should do it (in theory). Go to the GameSir Nexus app, choose the affected profile and go to the settings/gear icon in the upper right hand corner and click that to reset the profile. Or... If you want to manually switch back to the default profile, press the M button plus the Y button at the same time. If you want to manually switch between one custom profile and another, press the M button and B or A or X at the same time. (Profile 1 is B, Profile 2 is A, Profile 3 is X) But... If you are looking for a way to reset/fix the controller without software, I do not know of any method to do that.

Yo, I love the 1000hz effect. There's one problem. The Hal effect sticks are really stiff feeling. . There's no fluity to the aiming. Call of duty and halo I can't micro adjust properly. It's really bugging me bc I can't go back to a 150hz controller. My aim is my strong point. So this is a big problem for me..

You should be able to go back to 250hz using the PC app..... Also I put a mid-dize Kontrol Freeks on my right stick to help with the finesse. FYI, the PS5 Kontrol Freeks fit the G7 SE.

@@TheyFwNathanielYT they are really slow to respond on Discord.... Have you tried using the GameSir Nexus app? If not try using it. It's available on the Microsoft store for PC and on the Xbox store. Hopefully it recognizes it. If it does, try doing a calibration thru the app instead of the manual calibration. I made a video on software calibration.

@@ABZBShorts I assume you have tried to calibrate it again and making sure none of the sticks and buttons are touched until they are supposed to be. If you did that, and it wasn't due to an update failure, then I would guess you have a bad controller. If you think it might be due to an update, you can go on GameSir's Discord and in the troubleshooting section, ask for a firmware downgrade file and instructions... For whatever firmware version you think it was working right. Or you could just ask them for ideas. Unfortunately, right now I'm at a loss.

If you mean the manual calibration did not work, I'd recommend doing a calibration through the GameSir Nexus app instead of this manual calibration. You can get the GameSir Nexus app from the Xbox store or on PC. Mine did something similar after an update. The manual calibration fixed part of it, the other part was fixed by downgrading the firmware. Go to GameSir's Discord and in the troubleshooting section ask for the downgrade firmware file for the version that last worked well, and they should also give you the instructions...... Note that they are often slow to respond and it could be a few days before they get it to you. On the plus side, I have successfully upgraded since I downgraded and my controller has been great.

There have been some issues with the factory cables, so I'd recommend a different cable. Also, there have been some that seem to try this method on controllers other than GameSir G7 series controllers. Just make sure you are using a GameSir brand controller.

I've had a few people try to use this method on controllers that were not GameSir G7/ G7 SE controllers. So, if you don't have a GameSir, it won't work. 2nd, I would suggest you try using a different USB cable, especially if you are using the factory cable, they are known to be flakey.

I think it's easiest to do it in the GameSir Nexus app on Xbox or PC. But you can do it manually. To do it manually, hold the M button + the rear button you want to program simultaneously for 3 seconds. When the light blinks slowly, tap the button you want to map to the back button. The light turns solid to indicate the back button is mapped/programed. If you meant that the back buttons don't move, flip the switch near the back button to unlock it so it becomes clicky. The easiest way is to use the GameSir Nexus app. If you want your back buttons to be set to default where they do nothing, choose the option of the N in a square. Also, if you want to switch to the default settings press the M button and the Y button at the same time.

Do you have the controller unplugged before holding the buttons in and then plug in the cable? If so, I'm not sure what could cause your issue. Due to the crappy cable they send with the controller, I would recommend trying a different cable.

@@baker_iq1346 The easiest way is to download the GameSir Nexus app (on PC or Xbox) and program the buttons for what you want then to do in the app... If you want to program the back buttons (R4/L4) manually you can do that too. As an example, if you want to have the right back button (R4) programmed to act like the A button, hold the M button (bottom front button) and the R4 button at the same time until the light blinks, then tap the A button. The light should go solid and now R4 acts like the A button. Also, make sure the lock switches are off on the back of the controller are off, otherwise you can't click the back buttons.

@@contensuu Yes. It used to be on the Xbox version of the GameSir Nexus app, but Xbox made GameSir remove the overclocking feature. Now it is only on the PC app, but when you make changes to your controller on the PC it stays with a controller even after you connect it to the Xbox.

This only works with the GameSir G7 series controllers, so I just want to make sure you are using one of those. Other than that, you may want to try a different cable.

I had issues with mine after one update, but I have updated it twice since then without a problem. However before the problem I had and since then, I've had to calibrate the controller after updates because the sticks or triggers were just a little off. But after calibrating, everything was fine. For those issues, you can calibrate thru the app. If you don't know how, I also have a video explaining how to calibrate thru the app.

@@Korben_Dallas944 I haven't used it but a couple of times, but I thought it was pretty good. However, when you upgrade your controller, you can increase the polling rate. If you increase the polling rate above 250 HZ then they say it disables the audio. Jack. I've heard some people say the audio jack still works but there may be issues with it.

I assume you tried a software calibration and a manual calibration and it's still doing it. I'd suggest trying a different USB cable. If you have calibrated multiple times and changed the cable and still have issues, you may have bad joy sticks..... If it happened right after an upgrade, you may want to downgrade your firmware. To downgrade, go to the Troubleshooting section of GameSir's Discord and ask for the downgrade file you need and instructions (it may take a few days to get the info)

My suggestions: 1.) Try a different cable (I had to replace mine the other day because it made my controller do weird stuff). 2.) Take the faceplate off and pull the joystick off (they just pop on and off) to see if there is anything physically obstructing the stick. If so, use compressed air or a cotton swab lightly damped with rubbing alcohol to clean the debris. 3.) Try to calibrate using the GamrSir Nexus app. 4.) Try to do a manual calibration again and just make sure the sticks are not being touched when you hold the 3 buttons down. If that doesn't do it, I'm not sure what else to do, but I'll try to help if I can.

First, I have to point out that this is just for the GameSir G7 & G7 SE controllers, not other Xbox controllers. If you got the right controller, some have found the cable to be faulty and a new cable fixed it, and others said they found the complete to be the problem and got a replacement...... Hopefully it's just a cable issue.

Make sure you are not touching anything else besides the 3 buttons when you plug the cable in. If you are doing this correctly and it's still not blinking, try a different cable. The factory cables feel high quality, but they tend to have issues. Other than that, I didn't know. You may want to contact GameSir's support by email or Discord.

Here's the advice I've given others. No one has told me it has not worked, or if it has worked.... 1.) Make sure you aren't touching any other buttons or sticks (besides the 3 you are supposed to) when you plug the cable in. 2.) The factory cables look nice but that have issues. Try a different cable. 3.) Some people seem to be trying this with different Xbox controllers, but this will only work on the GameSir G7 and the GameSir G7 SE. If any of this helps, or if it doesn't, please let me know.
