How to manually upgrade the firmware of an Asus router

Thank you for the video. This is off-topic here, but I hope you can do another video on Parrot OS. I see that version 5.3, released on May 1, has an OVA version as well as an ISO version, so you could put both versions of Parrot OS on a single USB drive, along with Virtualbox. Thanks.

Are ASUS routers short ranged? My TUF Gaming AX4200 could not be connected around 15m away

I've been using Asus routers for years and never had a range issue with them. Do you have both bands unified? If yes, separate them and connect to the 5GHz one, it is less prone to interference then the 2.4 GHz band. Also, try to force a channel instead of keeping it automatic.

trying to log into my Asus repeater and have gateway address. The repeater doesn't accept the username/password of the main router (also Asus). There is no "Forgot Password" option. I would like to update firmware and possibly switch to AIMesh. How do I set up a new access username and password?

You need to reset the router and then reconfigure it.

@@KnowledgeSharingTech Does the AIMesh offer any benefit over the repeater function? I'm looking for better security and locking down the repeater connection. I had assumed, maybe wrongly, the lock on my router would extend to the extender.

@@philr3630 Yes, AiMesh is much better than a repeater. It keeps the same SSID as the main router and it gets its security from the main router

Yes should work. But not recommended as in 2023 lots of hacks on very old Routers like the used ac88 / ac87 have been found. Stick to newer ones if possible. DD-Wrt has some Updates
