Three years ago, I went from a Tanzer 22 to a CS33. The learning curve on boat systems has been steep, the worst being about the electrical system, which I had sorted out by a marine electrician, based on the pre-purchase inspection. Everything was going reasonably fine until my Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger refused to power-up following the starting and house batteries discharge. This issue brought my attention back to my lack of knowledge about the electrical system. I am usually good at learning through reading technical books, but this topic is definitely my Achilles Tendon. A friend of mine sent me the link to your presentation on inverters and I can't thank him enough. I started going through your series of 30 instructional videos and my threshold knowledge has increased tenfold. So yes, I definitely relate to your introduction on this one and thank you for taking the time to make your videos available to the larger public.

Hi, just wanted to say thank you for posting your videos. I'm slowly refitting a 1930's trawler. You can only imagine the state of the electrical systems when I got the boat. Your videos have really helped and I hope you keep posting more. Maybe you could post some more practical examples of installations? Keep up the great work

Awesome information! hypothetical question out of curiosity, would it be possible to safely wire two 110 amp 12v batteries in sequence to get 24 volts to another set of sequenced batteries (in parallel) to get 24V at 220amps?

Great question. Two 110 amp-hour 12 volt batteries wired in series gives you 110 amp-hour 24 volt battery. Two 110 amp-hours 12 volt batteries wired in parallel gives you 220 amp-hours at 12 volts.

DC wire color code. recently i went to West marine in US (Burlington Vermont) in electrical area they had different wire size but all the wire where only available in red and black...no yellow available.

Hi Maxime, that's too bad. Black is OK for DC negative, but i'd much rather you use Yellow for the DC negative.

Greg's Marine Wiring Supply is your friend. West Marine is a ripoff and should only be used when absolutely necessary and you need a oart right away. As you saw though they don't have allot in the store.

How hard is it to past the electrical abyc test at the end of the course?
