This is exactly the way I mask canopies...good job!

Great job, makes masking easier, one of the trickiest parts of putting together a model

I’m working on the Revell Memphis Bell it does not have the raise canopy what the best way to mask it because the only way I see liquid mask 🤷 I’m stumped

10:40 - May I ask why you gloss-coated and matte-coated? Because of decals? Thanks and thanks for your videos!
@asdf9890 Жыл бұрын
I’m by no means experienced, but a gloss prior to placing decals helps avoid silvering by smoothing the surface. Then matte helps to hide the edges, seal in the decal, and more closely match the flat military color of the planes. Not sure I’d bother with gloss under matte just on the canopy though.

How does the blade not scratch the canopy or chip it? Thanks!!
@ScaleModellingVideos3 жыл бұрын
You need to find the correct pressure to apply. This comes with time and experience. Always use a new blade and practice on a spare piece first.
@amaurythewarrior2 жыл бұрын
why not put the gloss coat before masking? wouldn't that protect it a bit against scratching? i haven't tried it myself but i assume worst case scenario you can easily sand the raised areas a bit if the paint doesn't stick
@ScaleModellingVideos2 жыл бұрын
I can't remember if I said that in the video. But yes you can gloss coat it by dipping it in future or pledge and let that dry for a day before Masking.

Using the thumb to trigger airbrush was definitely something I haven't seen before....lol

Yeah I guess everyonez different. I feel more control with the thumb

What does the dipping in Pledge do?
@ScaleModellingVideos3 жыл бұрын
It protects the canopy fron future scratching. It also helps gloss it up.

Nah . Peel it off , stick on a smooth plastic surface , cut out with a steel rule and stick the pieces back on .

у такого метода есть недостаток. Сдвижные части фонаря любят делать хрусть в самой верхней части
@petemelanyevans9162 Жыл бұрын
Nothing special ..it's the normal way to do any canopy... though you cannot just pull the mask off after a clear coat ...it will rip the paint off ..you first need to re blade the edges first . Why a 3rd clear coat on the inside ? You dunked it twice ....
