The quadriceps, or quads, are a group of four muscles located at the front of the thigh: vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, and rectus
femoris. These muscles play a crucial role in knee extension and hip flexion, contributing to activities like walking, running, and jumping. Massage therapy targeting the quads can enhance flexibility, reduce muscle tension, and alleviate soreness. Techniques such as effleurage, petrissage, myofascial release neuromuscular & medical massage can be employed to enhance blood circulation and promote healing & relaxation. However, therapists should be cautious with deep pressure, especially around the knee. Common quad injuries include strains, tears, and patellar tendonitis, emphasizing the need for careful assessment and tailored therapeutic approaches to facilitate recovery and prevent further damage.

@@MassageTherapeutics915 and btw the question was "why do they call it a ligamente if its just the prolongation of the tendon" the point I wasn't clarified was that at that stage the patela also connects to the tibial tuberosity... "bone to bone..."

@@overshare7 exactly!!! It’s a tendon when it’s attached the quads and becomes a ligament when it’s connected from the Patella to Tibial tuberosity it’s bone to bone.

Excellent instructional video on how to massage the Quadriceps muscles. The Art work was very helpful in visualizing. I will definitely incorporate these techniques in my future massages with clients.

I am a massage therapist student in Canada and I enjoy learning from you. Recently I started my practicum in the physiotherapist and massage clinic. One thing I am experiencing is that my wrist and hands feel sore after doing massages. Its just me or everyone go through this pain. Or I am doing something wrong. Please suggest 🙏

Congrats on all your accomplishments as a therapist! As a new therapist we do experience some pain at the beginning until your hands become used to the work. The students go through this during internship. Just be aware that you are using proper body mechanics. I suggest soaking your hands in Epsom salts too. Do you do any exercises to strengthen your hands like squeezing a ball? All of that helps. Also I hope you’re not over working a lot too. Best of wishes for you 🤗

Practice doing at least one treatment wearing a blindfold it will help you connect to your own body better to have better mechanics.

I don’t know what part you’re talking about but usually the movement of the muscles helps to relax the muscles. It’s like a pin & stretch.

This is such a good question! I think our bodies are miraculously made. There are no computers that can do everything our bodies can. From the beginning 100 millions sperms & only 1 makes it to conception! We have approximately 100 TRILLION CELLS!!! I mean every cell knows what to do! The only thing I could think of is, how not extend the longevity of the telomeres. Then we would live longer. The day they discover how to lengthen the telomeres, live as we know it will change.

Hi Maria my quads are super tight affecting my menicus tears ...how often can my wife do this

Depends on your medical history. Did you have surgery, Are you working out the quads & hamstring evenly. Usually when you have one tighter than the other they’re not balanced. Have you seen a PT? Usually they give you therapy 2-3 times a week. Best of wishes for you.

No surgery but menicus tears both knees and very tight calves and ankles...weak glutes, u name it I have it lol Physio has me do quad strength work but that tightens them more

@@newts1964 I have heard that sometimes it makes it tighter. Mild stretches. Build up the glutes! You actually need to balance out your workouts to strength your core. She could give you a massage 2-3 times a week. I hope this helps.
