I’ll check out that app. I just use the free AUEQPOD over 4 separate tracks with the top track being the original without any changes lowered down in dB by -5 to -10db. And the other tracks I lower their dB as well as I add the pods to them.

When we export a GarageBamd iOS project to AudioMaster, we don’t have the input fader to give more headroom with the GarageBamd iOS auto normalization.

Hi Pete, nice one. So I'm currently using GrandFinale on your (previous) recommendation. I like it and I'm getting used to it, but I do use its presets then minimally change things (if anything). My question is should I stick with GF or switch to this one? Any advice there?
@PeteJohnsMusic
@PeteJohnsMusic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there my friend. I think Grand Finale has more options and more control so I would probably stick with that. I think AudioMaster is a good option for folks who don’t want to spend much time at all with mastering, or need to master a lot of audio quickly.

I haven't used this app in a long time. It is great! But I wish it was AUV3 so I could use it in line on a master or Main Out track in a DAW. Have you tried Lurssen ($$$$$)?
@PeteJohnsMusic
@PeteJohnsMusic 4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried Lurssen yet. I hear good things but quite pricey. I think this is actually usable as an AUv3 now? I’ll have to test it out in GarageBand and let you know. Maybe next video?

Excellent video, Pete, as always! One question: if you use first the (Custom) EQ and limiter but then you choose any of the other presets, will the first EQ work as an integrated chain (i.e. EQ, then preset, then limiting, then export)? It is really important to know. Why? If the EQ would be cancelled by the other presets (and then you can’t tweak more parameters), Grand Finale is a better choice in my opinion? Thanks again :)
@PeteJohnsMusic
@PeteJohnsMusic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. So, no - once you choose another preset you lose your custom EQ settings. Grand Finale might’ve better if you’re looking for more control. And Final Touch if you want ultimate control.
@PabloDeModeOfficial
@PabloDeModeOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
Pete Johns Thank you so much for your answer! Although the Audiomaster Pro is a great app, it is too simple to use it for mastering and quite expensive consiering that you can’t tweak parameters on the presets. But if you have a great song perfectly mixed, this could be a good option to use.
@seanohaimheirgin1047

It's adding compression, not limiting
@PeteJohnsMusic
@PeteJohnsMusic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Sean. I seemed to find that it wasn’t pushing over 0dB so assumed it was a limiter? Limiting is just compression with a high or infinite ratio at the end of the day.
@seanohaimheirgin1047
@seanohaimheirgin1047 4 жыл бұрын
@@PeteJohnsMusic A compressor will boost the signal in a variety of ways but generally far more musically than just adding gain then stripping anything over 0db. A limiter is basically just lopping off anything over a certain level. A compressor is boosting the quieter levels and leaving the louder stuff alone. A mastering compressor working with a preset setting such as this is more than likely boosting particular frequencies and leaving others alone, a bit like taking a second copy of your music, putting it through an EQ, boosting the EQ'd signal then overlaying it on the original at a louder volume.

Hi Pete. If you master a track using a plugin then say import it back to GarageBand iOS after mastering. If you share it, the final master that is, won’t it be normalised therefore wrecking the whole process? I remember the FX track hack but once you bring the master back into GarageBand then share that you’re back to normalising. How do you preserve the mastering in the latter case?
@PeteJohnsMusic
@PeteJohnsMusic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. So, yes - if you use a mastering app outside of GarageBand, I recommend not brining that back in and instead just using that final WAV file as the master file to release.

Thank you that was really insightful. Can I ask I recorded something to into AUM with AUv3 app instances and it sounded great over my headphones on my ipad. The minute I send it to my PC, again using the same headphones, it sounds a bit muted. Is it just a simple thing of mastering it to solve this? Apologies for the noob question!!
@PeteJohnsMusic

Hey there. So I’m not super proficient with AUM and don’t know how it treats exported audio. I’m assuming you are exporting at the highest possible quality and uncompressed? Hi Pete, thanks for all your help, but please tell me, would you use your 1st way of mastering on IOS which is exporting in wav, starting a new project on garageband, upload the wav export, add peak limiter and lrc5 or, would you use audiomaster or final touch? I guess you cant use the 1st method and use one of these apps on top of it. Sorry but I'm seriously struggling to get this master right
@PeteJohnsMusic
@PeteJohnsMusic 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s really a personal choice and depends on your mix and style of music. I like the simplicity of the GarageBand method but it won’t always make your mix “pop” quite as much as some of the apps can. If you want the ultimate flexibility and have some time to get it right, Final Touch is my go to. kzbin.info/aero/PLc8Xg_23Wa576LHjLmYHbYtuxAObdbiBh
