I’m new to the ukulele. I have had a six string guitar since I was fourteen. I played through my teens and 20’s and then picked it up again when my three daughters were little. They are all in their twenties now. I’ve just in the past few months tried to start playing again but finding it difficult to do so. The strings hurt and I don’t feel like I have the same dexterity in my fingers. I’m now sixty two and feeling a little sad about all that. So I’ve decided to purchase a ukelele from a Canadian company out of Calgary, Alberta. I have short fingers and was thinking of the concert size but I’m wondering because I want to start playing my guitar in the future if I’m better to get a tenor which would be closer in size to the my guitar? Also I know it might be hard to do but I want to make this ulelele a one time purchase so either size I choose I would like to get the one with a built in tuner and electric pick up? Does all this sound like a good plan or do you have other tips to help me in my decision? I would love your opinion. P.S. I only want the one ukelele because I already have a six and a twelve string guitars and a mandolin that I’ve yet to learn. My husband said no more but I’m getting a ukelele anyways whether he buys it for me for me for Christmas or not.

I played guitar before ukulele too, but I didn’t find the transition difficult. I have a concert and a soprano. Play the concert the most. If you know you want to play it amplified, get the electric acoustic.

You play the ukulele right handed. A day or two ago I watched a video of you playing left handed. Is this correct or was t some video trick?

I’m righthanded! The video must have flipped somehow.
