hey LS, I have found out something very frustrating that maybe you can help me with, I have only 41h on MK1, I wish so much to main Liu Kang and this evening I am so frustrated, so 1. I don't understand how am I not converting a F43 full hit, I hit them with F43 and then when I try to start the B23 B23 333 combo they just simply block it, my first hit, so I can't even start it, and 2. what is the timing on the grab and kung lao teleport I need to hit, maybe you can tell me when in the animation I need to hit teleport because the same they just get up in time, and block.

Liu Kang is my main, he’s easy to learn but hard to win with it, if that make sense. He has no overhead so you can just defend low, and it seems like you can’t punish anything, especially with certain charters who’s safe on everything

@@scylla8270 yea idk if I’m just playing with him wrong or something I got more wins then loses but imo you gotta have good defense with Liu Kang and take advantage of people mistakes. If your opponent rarely makes a mistake it’s going to be hard to pull out a win

Honestly he isn't that bad, he is not the only character that has no overhead, for example kitana don't have one either, or to be more precise, only 1 but at the end of a string that also has a big gap right before overhead, and also you get a free combo from a grab and no one else can do it, and also he is a zoner too.

Another Liu Kang Kameo that is great for him is Scorpion. It gives you an overhead that will catch out people who duck or block low, and he gives you great combo damage once you learn the combos and timing of Scorpions fire breath to extend them. The armored spear that pulls you bacj to zoning range is a good extra tool to switch up your playstyle and stay relatively safe as well. His best Kameos are Kung Lao(safety, throw loops, decent combos), Scorpion (overhead mix, good combos), Sereena (safety, good combos), Cyrax (safety, chip, good combos), and Sub Zero (if playing against a high zoning/projectile character for the ice armor)

I love your stuff, you are very good at teaching overall gameplan. I have one request, or thought for improvement. Its likely that this issure is mine because i am a really new player, but you use a lot of "game speech" when talking about your combo strings, and it can be hard fore me to keep up with b/c i need to decode what inputs you are talking about before i can process your point or lesson. It would be helpful if you would put the combo notations somewhere on the screen, so that the new folks you are teaching have an easier time keeping up.

I’m a liu main too me I hope they change that standing 2 is a high they turn that starter to a mid his stagger game will be great same for his standing 1 they chnage that to a mid he will up there his stagger are great but using f4 is really Annoying since it’s the only nice one b2 is good too if you can shimmy them and bait them. He’s easy to pick up but hard to win with I’ve come to figure out striker motaro and Lao are good to use with him

I see a lot of changes coming if NRS really wants this game to be all about variety. It ain’t just Liu, either, now that I’ve been playing more. Most strings on alot of characters are practically useless. I don’t think that was their intention. Also think (almost) every character should have extendable air routes since this was such a big returning feature. Only a handful of characters can extend from the air. Wouldn’t be surprised to see one of Liu’s air strings bounce an opponent. Lastly - there is no way that 5 high starters was intentional. I see standing 3 becoming a mid, and I also see his 12 string getting more range. He’s the stubbiest character on the roster by far.

Oh yeah and one last thing - his db4 teleport should have a similar effect as the scorpion front kameo where it staggers a grounded opponent to where you could continue a combo (via kameo to make it fair) and then still launch an aerial opponent. I would love to see them give him B34 back, as that would synergize with db4 as well. But I doubt it

i just use Kung Lao with Liu Kang usually finish combos with back kameo for a hard to block mixup pretty mcuh a 50/50 online so in turn i end up getting 60-70% if it works if not they end up facing pressure to an eventual grab for 22% 😂
