I did such a double take when I first spotted these hair rollers on a UTube video! These are older than dirt! I am 73 and my mother used these on my hair when I was a child! The big deal was they allowed you to sleep in them because they were soft and it made them comfortable! They were brown in color and made of rubber and were smaller than the ones you have!

WOW ! I am shocked, it's amazing how hair tools and products will always come back in style! I wonder what other hair tools you used as a child that would still be popular in today's time! Do you remember anything else your mom put in your hair that stands out to you? I was raised in the 90's and early 2000's so it's the hot comb for me, aha!

Actually I can’t think of anything else, except maybe those soft bendable rods I have seen girls use to make tighter curls. We had something similar but they were made of leather strips actually! I was just blown away when I saw the “spools”! Yeah, I am a tad older than you! They are a fun color and you look adorable with the curls! Glad you enjoyed them! Next time a tad less hair and it should not be wet! Damp maybe but not soaked! Have fun!

Umm ok I want the ones you had as a child ☺️☺️ thanks for posting that lovely story

I remember them as well, I’m 67. My great grandma used brown paper bag strips rolled up and tin foil. I remember her hair being nice and curly!

I am a whitewoman and I need to almost dry my hair first then barely dampen with curling mousse then wrap and roll. Even then if I put too much hair on a spoolie it wont be dry in the morning. A dryer bonnet would be really good to use with these boogers.

I loved it when you talked about cutting the product bottle. I do that and some people look at it like I’m so cheap, but you’re right, we paid for the product so might as well use bit of it!

A👏🏾LEI👏🏾A, GIRL! I am so glad that I am not the only one who cuts open their bottles to get EVERY LAST DROP! These products be costing way too much to throw away bottles that have products stuck to the sidewall of these bottles. Your hair turned out beautifully and you are talented in being able to properly use these things lol. I have not tried them, but that’s because I don’t have the patience and I am transitioning back to natural. I don’t think my roots will cooperate so I use my curlformers 😊❤️ Thanks for the tutorial though. Might try them when I am fully natural again.

Yes our Creator, my Heavenly Father, is dope! You're the first one that I've seen wrap your hair on them like we do with regular curl rollers, that's probably why they didn't look spiral in shape. But it seemed easier the way you did it. Now, I was feeling like you when you took your hair off the spoolies, but the end result is very nice. I might give in and try them out. Thank you for this video. Peace and blessings!🙏🏾❤️

Try rolling the top of your hair first gives a whole different curl. Elongated spiral curl. I sprayed the tinniest bit of wrap spray. Basically still dry. 👌🏾

You are not supposed to use them with wet hair it says it in the instructions that came with mine slightly damp is okay it is because they won't dry properly fyi

Hi love I believe the directions are just for guidance but to use at your own discretion. For me it’s all about the results! I do things a little differently but I know what’s best for my hair

Love the results...curly is my thing. However, I don’t think spoolies are the best for very long, thick hair. Who has 2 days to dry and they take away length.

@@AsAlwaysAleia Yes, I tried the style. My experience:My hair is very fine and neck length natural hair. I washed and deep conditioned, but did not add any product when I rolled up the Spoolies, and my hair dried rather quickly. I added oil after they were dry.
