Let’s be serious now. This is one of the best mixing tutorials I’ve seen so far...and I saw tones of for the last 6-7 years. I explain why. You mix with your ears and feel and not with your eays, and that what’s mixing is about. Every mixing engineer and producer says for thousands of years “guys, this comp or this eq is so awesome you need to buy it” and beginners start to open their small tiny pockets or maybe huge pockets to buy all that crap, not everything of course, and stuff...but for what? Your results will not be better until you get the basics and your practice! Mixing is not eyes looking on an eq which shows me a graph where are the bad frequencies...mixing is hearing and feeling what is good and what is bad...so keep this in mind rookies! :) You do use already good samples, actually there is no need to mix them better, but mix them together and “explore and experiment “ this so important and people still don’t realize that! Mixing is exactly that! Explore the sounds and find solutions through that... NI is all you need to make a hit record and your STOCK PLUGINS AS WELL! Reminder: the First Lady Gaga Album was made ENTIRELY in Logic Pro. And guess what: the 30 millions people who bought the album never ever asked themselves which plugins were used in that record! Keep that in mind...;)

I haven’t seen anyone yet who can make me understand why to use compressor including u guys.
@thebeash1329 Жыл бұрын
It's simple: some sounds are too loud and don't sound as good as when they are compressed just right, allowing the loudness to still be heard but the way the sound fades out after that loud transient is controlled and satisfying.

I still don't have much clue about how to use a compressor. I like Waves Rcompressor because its so simple but I pretty much use presets on solid dynamics then adjust to my ear.

My only complaints are no visualization on the EQ... itd be a nice add-on, and there's no single plugin variant that has the solid comp and eq in one plugin as a channelstrip.
@timoheinrich87634 жыл бұрын
A lot of people (me included) are very happy that there is no visualization. This is a plugin where you have to trust your ears and nothing else. It's challenging at first and then very rewarding. Cheers!

Try an save the files and any other projects somewhere safe an want get corrupted. Probably best on an external drive. Uninstall an reinstall maschine an should work. If it will open other projects or a new project than more than likely the projects are corrupted.

The solid series of plug ins are models of an SSL console's channel strip components. The two classic SSL console are the "g series" and the "e series". The switch toggles between the two models.

@simongodfrey37656 жыл бұрын
I guess you need plenty of ear training because I could not hear the changes on the subtle stuff, only the obvious. And yes, that's on very good headphones and audio interface. I really wish I could hear what you're doing but sadly I can't.
@simongodfrey37656 жыл бұрын
@@SsgtHolland You have a point Sarge, but on the other hand I've seen/heard this kind of stuff watching expert mixing before - a subtle change here and there and I can't hear the difference on any of them. Then you listen to all the changes together and it's night and day compared to the original. I'm afraid there's no escaping the fact that it's down to massive amounts of ear training and practice (which I don't have!).
@mathyoooo26 жыл бұрын
@@simongodfrey3765 First of all, youtubes audio compression makes many of the subtle changes more or less dissapear. Second, the more familiar you are with the source audio the more obvious the changes become

I am a long time NI software user/owner, but I have to object. You are NOT mixing/mastering in this video. The source material is sampled....meaning, it was recorded. A proper engineer recorded that. That recording was then mastered by a mastering engineer. Then someone sampled that. Now the fella in this video is playing with effects to change the sound. I seriously doubt his set up would remotely qualify as a “mixing/mastering” set up.
@marianobrascich6 жыл бұрын
You right !!!
@jlx_music43656 жыл бұрын
Yes, agree with you that mastering is something different, but if read the headline it’s not about mastering at all. Another thing is, that mixing is not everything technical. The best mixes which sell are not the best technical sounding ones “Hello by Adele” for example. It’s first of all the feeling surrounded by technical stuff. That’s why they sell tracks. People feel them! And not because the kick is heard on every playback device...cheers ;)

This is too much tweaking for a plugin. Native Instruments should focus on creating plugins that automatically adjust on all frequencies to a preset style we like by genre and create a hundred templates. Creative musicians lose their drive and mojo when having to deal with tweaking. We just want a template or emulator that edits sounds with ALL instruments taken care off. The first company that does that will take over the world in the VST plugins market. PERIOD. We humans could send a satellite to Mars. Don't tell me this can't be done.
