Don’t forget to hit the like button as that really helps! And READ BELOW 👇for some extra info to help I want to add/emphasise get the most from these tips. Some of the most important tips you don't want to miss are later on in the video so don't switch off before you get through!! • Bear in mind 3 main things that need to come together to help you get really tight rhythm and each tip helps with 1 or more of these. 1. Having the sound of the rhythm clearly in your head 2. Understanding the rhythm and exactly where to place things 3. physically being able to perform it • Using any tips, you will get the best results form your practice by working on small sections at a time as to not be overwhelmed and then you can build up stamina • Also practise everything as slowly as you need first to get them clear and accurate before speeding up • When making sense of a new rhythm and getting it in your head, picture that Even rhythm grid of the smallest division you need, then you can imagine either just taking points where you DON’T play a note instead • Keep in mind that even rhythm grid of the smallest division you need to work against so you know exactly where to place notes on or between the beats • Also just try playing around with rhythm, try lots of things out, experiment and have fun! Particularly with chord patterns, once you’re in a position between your hands, you can try different rhythms and patterns out

Good video. I was finding myself stuck playing the same rhythm while practicing chord inversions so this is exactly what I was looking for. :)

Really helpful tips--thanks! I got the Soundbrenner Pulse (doesn't have a watch function) and I like it very much. I prefer to feel it than hear the clicks of most metronomes as they distract from the sound of the music.

I always got excited every time I watch your video. But when I back sit on piano and playing a song I never find that my ryhthm is good to the song. For example I play "Heaven Help My heart's Tina Arena, I simply confused of which kind of rhythm should I use.

This video is more about playing the rhythm you're trying to more accurately. I think what you mean is finding the right kind of rhythm/pattern to suit the song. This really is down to experience of learning/copying what lots of other players have done on records in the style you want to play and you begin to pick up the vocabulary.

Normally I find your videos great but this disappointed me ... twenty seconds played over 16 minutes .... zero examples, zero rhythm patterns ... I don't understand

Hi, thanks for your comment. I just started watching through to refresh my memory and am a bit confused why you say ‘zero examples’ because I got half way though and there’s a bunch of examples to display the points I’m trying to make. Sorry if this video was disappointing, you also say zero rhythm patterns so I wonder if you may have been expecting something different to what I was actually going for. The intent of the video wasn’t to teach different rhythms, it was about how you can improve whatever music you’re trying to play, learn and practise better to play more accurately. Inaccurate playing or lack of feel really has a big impact on how the music sounds. As a teacher, I know it’s where some people go wrong which is why I wanted to make the video. Anyway, thanks for watching
