Love the video!! I am relatively new to watercolor and thought I had to buy all the pre mixed colors in order to paint but love watching you mix all own colors! I have a lot to learn and practice. Can you share your cool primary favorites and your warm primary favorites? I have learned so much from your videos, please keep them coming!!!

What a great video! I am a complete beginner, and mixing colors feels so intimidating. I really love the way you go about matching the colors. This is going to help me so much on my next project!

Wow! That was wonderful. You have been instrumental in helping me learn to match colors just using the primary colors, or a variation of them. Than you!

This was very useful, thanks. It was interesting to compare it with Draw Mix Paint's method for oils. He emphasises matching the value first, but that doesn't work for watercolour since a transparent wc mix doesn't really have a value, but more a value-density. Black will have a darker value for a given quanity of the mix than red, but the absolute value will ultimately depend how much you put on.

Thank you; thank you; thank you!! Another fantastic tutorial and you couldn’t have timed it better. I really like your use of a minimal palette, (hot/cold primary’s,) when doing a lot of your tutorials. This video was really helpful, I am literally signing off and making the same view boxes you used. Oh QUESTION: when making view boxes, does the colour of paper matter? I’m guessing it’s watercolour paper, but they do come in different tints of white. Thanks again & I vote 🗳 for Ruth to be your guest more 🐶👨🏻🎨
@LironYan3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! So happy this helps 😁🙏🏼 As for the color of paper, I alternate between the slightly tinted Saunders to a clearer Arches. Honestly it didn’t make as much of a difference for me (: But if you find it easier to do on whiter paper definitely stick to that for this specific practice (and then for a full fledged painting you can use whatever you like). Hope that helps ^_^

Thanks Liron, again a very interesting, informative and entertaining Episode. Your video has tempted me to combine a "Liron Yanconsky Split Primary Pallette" for myself and have some joy in color mixing. You mention the colors: Pyrole red French Ultramarin Indian yellow Manganese blue Quin. Rose Lemon yellow Would that be your choice of a split primary transparent pallette for mixing any color and everyday? Or would you want to name other colors for more versatility and/or transparency? Your feedback is as always most appreciated.

What’s the difference between French ultramarine and regular ultramarine?
@suel42693 жыл бұрын
French is redder. I can’t really tell the difference.
@LironYan3 жыл бұрын
And I’ll add to SJL, my Ultr. Blue granulates heavily with some of my yellows. My French Ult. Doesn’t do that. Teoh has a great vid on the differences, but it’s important to note it’s the same pigment (PB 29) (: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4K8gH-Ahc6rmqM

LOLLLL when they have their little mouths half open and their little front teeth are poking out looking like tiny human teeth!!! I can't!! Dogs are too cute!!! Edit: I forgot to say thank you! This was immensely helpful! I just recently got into watercolors (I am an oil painter) and mixed media and mixing watercolors is different from mixing oils. Color theory is the same, but if you make a mistake with tone in oils the way you fix it is different from watercolors so this was very helpful for me!

So you are matching on a scrap paper. If you need to create a medium quantity you would have to do it again just matching in a bigger puddle, right?
