This video answered a lot of questions I had and some questions that I didn't know I needed to ask. Very well explained through each step visually and audibly. One of my take aways was, the camera should be looking the natural way you would be looking if you were to walk in the room. In my case the front lens would be pointing in that direction. I can see how that would visually make more sense when someone is using the tour. I will be much more prepared on my next job. Thank you!

Why would someone who has been buying from the brand for years or even decades suddenly have to pay 50-60% more for the exact same item? Inflation cannot justify this. It's like the brand is deceiving the consumer. On *gtdupe* , the bags sold are priced lower but of higher quality, so you might as well go there.

@@illini360media Do you happen to know if a person purchases a Matterport camera, do they have to use Matterport to render tours & floorplans?
@illini360media3 жыл бұрын
@@psfphotography great question- to make a true 3D Matterport tour, you do have to use a Matterport camera and Matterport platform. However, you can use your matterport camera to capture 360° images, export those from matterport download tab, and import those into other virtual tour platforms like KUULA to connect & create a 360° virtual tour. For the floor plans, you can use any 3rd party floor plan system / company as matterport doesn’t create them. Matterport uses the company “Cubicasa” to create floor plans - which anyone can use as well. Going a step further, If you have/get a newer iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR camera, you can actually scan the property and have a floor plan created from the LiDAR info.
@kraven44443 жыл бұрын
good video. What about doors? do you open them fully? even ones in the distance as you are getting closer and closer? I imagine it's strange if in one image it's closed. Then in a closer image it's now open. Speaking of doors. Closets. Do you take a scan point right in front of a closet? Again does having the closet doors closed in a further image, then open when you get close, cause confusion with the final stitching?
@illini360media3 жыл бұрын
Great questions! I never scan closets unless I’m requested and if I do, I open up the closet doors in all the bedrooms before I start. A floor plan can still be drawn up without scanning closets. The only doors I scan doing the “open / closed” method would be basement stairs and garage entrances. An easy way to do that would be to scan the space with the doors closed and before you move to a different space, take a scan near the door with the door half open, then another closer with it fully open, then another inside that door way. The space will decide if you have to do additional scans to make it work but that’s generally how you do it. After you process the space, you can remove the extra scan points in front of the door, to keep only the “fully open door” scan visible. It actually looks great when a viewer is walking around a house, gets close to a garage door, it opens, and they walk in seamlessly. There are no stitching issues in the final product using the open/closed door method. matterport has that down!

Great Video but you did make me go all "queezy" when you had that camera at the top of the steps and you turned towards the filming camera to talk and you were arm gesticulating... So Q: I use a z1 on a microphone stand ( round heavy bottom weighted ) as preference to a tripod. But - I see that if I were to get a Pro2 that stand would not take the weight of the Pro2. So - if I were to get a Pro2 for higher quality scans - would you happen to know if it is possible to then switch out, when needed, to the Z1 such as when on stairs or to make easier to hide from bathroom mirrors etc and then switch back to the pro2 for the rest of the house???
@illini360media Жыл бұрын
ha! I now have 2 Matterport pro2 scanners, one has been dropped 2-3 times by techs on my team. So far, they are still working great! There are services to "re-calibrate" and fix scanners if they break when they fall (trust me, it happens!) To answer, YES you can use 2 cameras to scan 1 property however its not needed as much. However with this way, you can start and switch to any camera during the scan but only one can be connected at a time. As an example, If I wanted to scan a theatre with a tall ceiling, I would scan the space with my matterport, then put my theta on a tall tripod and do high scans to capture more of the ceilings. After 3 years of doing this, I only done that once. In houses, its easy to "Blur" the matterport from mirrors and tripods that support matterport cameras are very sturdy to use on stairs! I use Manfrotto tripods: This exact one: Manfrotto 290 Xtra

@illini360media2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that ipad will be enough. Each space is a 1-3gb i would say. I use a ipad pro 256GB and when space is low, I start deleting old / boring tours. After you upload your tour and it processes by Matterport, you actually don't need to keep the tour on your ipad. However if you plan on updating the tour or want to edit / make changes, dont delete it off your device.

I switch floors once I’m at the very top - usually right outside of the door frame. Don’t worry, you can’t mess it up! Matterport actually determines what scan point divides the floor in processing. Do you create the customer a matterport account for your scans? How are they able to access their scan if they want to throw it up on their website? If you already have a video covering all this technical stuff, can you please share? Great video, Thanks!!
@illini360media Жыл бұрын
ALL great questions, I understand this comment is old but i wanted to respond. 1) When I scan a property, the space is hosted under my account. 2) Once the space is processed, I simply send them a link to share and/or embed code for their website 3) When your ACTIVE space count runs out, you must place some spaces on "inactive" or upgrade your account. Under a paid account, a user can host unlimited spaces however can only have an allotted amount of "active" space under each packages 4) if you cancel your subscription, the next time you log into matterport, it will ask you to pay to access your previously scanned spaces. So in a way you can access (if you pay) but not if you dont pay.

So I have a question for you. I am wanting to get into real estate photography and videography but I want to start by offering virtual tours and then expand to indoor videography and outdoor drone videography and later photography. So my question is this...is it viable and possible to start out ONLY offering the Virtual Tour service?
@illini360media2 жыл бұрын
Great question, when I started, I only offered virtual tours with the option for a floor plan in my main market. I quickly realized realtors in my market cared less about the matterport tour and cared more about the measured floor plan and listing photos. I quickly changed my plan up and now offer packages that include “3D virtual tour, measured floor plan and listing photos” on every shoot. I operate in another RE market as well and realtors in that market only call me for the matterport virtual tour. Look at your competitors and see what they are offering. If they offer it, chances are clients in your area want it.

@@illini360media do you do the photos with a separate camera? Or do you do Matterport pictures and then maybe just a photo on a regular camera of the outside. Just worried a DSLR is complicated

@@ElijahPrivetteRealEstateVlogs Matterport all the way! Few things 1) I have a video titled something like “How to take pictures without a DSLR” check that out, also 2) look at my most recent uploaded videos. Those “videos” are pictures from the matterport camera on sliding transitions. 3) floor plans are easy because matterport provides them for a fee. You should see a floor plan button with each scanned space.

Great videos, How are you doing now, how's your business doing? I'm planning on buying one, I don't know if I should, is it hard to get clients? During this hot market, they can sell the house within minutes, do they really need the service? Based on your experience, how would you scale the demand? 0 (they don't need it) - 10 (They're looking to get a virtual tour service badly, or 5 (they don't care at all, either have it or not)?

When I first started my business, I *assumed* every realtor wanted a 3D tour. I quickly learned in my area, realtors would rather have measured floor plans and wide view interior pictures - which the matterport provides both very well and for some of my clients, the 3D tour is just an “added bonus” All markets are different. I would see what your competition is doing, scan Zillow to see what realtors want, and start planning from there. If you scan zillow agent listings and see no realtors using 3D tours, or the majority of realtor listings are shot with an iPhone, you may want to figure out why.

Another reason to avoid extending the pedestal is that it will make the top of your tripod less stable and more prone to wobbling (especially since the camera moves), which could blur your shots.

You can add links to hotspots so that would work. For clients to book an appointment, they have to input their credit card so I have it on file before I arrive but I don’t charge it until I deliver the tour

Hey Craig, excellent video and tutorial! I just onboarded with a real estate media company and this was one of the things that I might be learning to do in the near future. You covered so many good things! I had a few questions though: 1. I know they prefer iPad devices. Can you use an Android-based tablet or smartphone instead? 2. I am pretty sure you have to subscribe to Matterport for their processing and cloud storage. No way to process it yourself, right? 3. I had a question about blocking off all mirrors or partial ones that'd affect the scan but you covered that ;). 4. Aside from some (probably) proprietary file formats, are you able to extract Jpegs / RAWs or other data from the camera when connected to a PC or Mac? Do you know how much internal storage there is? I'd imagine like, 1 TB or a sufficient amount for multiple high resolution scans. 5. If you were handling still photos on this property of your home, do you think using the Matterport camera would be sufficient or would you still-shoot regular or HDR photos as well? 6. Obviously there are some big price differences between the Insta-360 and the MC250. While I don't mind sinking the money into the big boy, do you feel it's worth it getting the small one to start out or just pull the trigger on the professional one? Obviously volume of properties scanned for sale and housing market, depending. 7. I noticed you said you were using Wi-Fi to connect the camera and iPad. What if for example, you have a client who's stopped net service and wouldn't have Wi-Fi at their home or the signals are weak? Is there any tethered way to handle this? Thanks again for an awesome video!
@illini360media2 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, Matterport started to allow Android devices in October 2021. I don’t have experience with android however its compatible. 2. With Matterport, there is no way to process yourself. You *could* process the scan and screen shot panos (using the camera tool within the matterport tour), once you screen shot panos, you can download them and upload them to a moderator/editor like GoThru(dot)co to create a 360 tour. Most likely not worth the effort. 3. The rule of thumb I live by with the market tools is this. “Mirror Markers: ‘Don’t measure here’” “Window Makers: ‘Show outside here’” 4. I don’t think you can hook up the matterport camera to a computer to extract files. I could be wrong but thats above my pay grade! 5. I officially started my Matterport biz in April 2020. I ONLY used the Matterport pro2 camera for ALL images until April 2022. The images produced by matterport are fine when you edit them in lightroom however since using my new mirrorless camera, its hard going back. In my market, the majority of homes sell for under $200k, so the images produced by matterport & edited in Lightroom are perfectly acceptable for that. 6. Great question. I started with a Ricoh Theta, upgraded to insta360 OneX and then Matterport pro1/MC200 and now have 3 Matterport pro2/MC250 camera. I say it depends on your operation and market. If you primarily offer real estate photography and virtual tours as a simple add on, I would go with the new Theta 360 camera. If you are looking to do Matterport as a service primarily, I would start with the Matterport pro2/MC250. Before buying my pro2/MC250 camera, I bought a pro1/MC200 off of eBay and used that to learn. The quality is much less than the pro2 camera - especially around windows. The pro1 was struggled to “see outside” often creating a washed out window that couldn’t be fixed in lightroom. however the pro2 camera is higher quality so the windows are much less blown out. If you are looking to do commercial jobs, you must have a pro2. 7. In Matterport terms, connecting via wi-fi is like connecting to bluetooth. No internet required to scan a space! I use a wifi only iPad and upload/process the tour once i get home at the end of the day

Great video, thank you. I am thinking of starting a matterport service here in Denmark. I can't figure out the pricing system and the ownership of the tours. tryed reaching out to matterport, but they havent returned yet. I am an engenier in a company that build and sells appartments and houses b2b and b2c. I think there would be interest and customers. But who owns the 3d models, can they be downloaded, or are they stuck on my account on matterport? and will the count as active spaces on my account.
@illini360media3 жыл бұрын
Hey Kasper, Matterport the WORLD!! Pricing in the US will be much different than in Denmark. Some people price per square foot, some do packages like "houses under 3,000 square foot = $xxx" "houses over 3,000 square foot = $xxx" I recommend looking up 2-3 competitors close to your area to see how they price tours. Remember, dont over think it! My pricing is based more on my time then it is how large the space is. In addition, when creating tours using Matterport technology, you must remember you are not able to download the tour to save for off line viewing. You must have an active Matterport subscription to save/view tours. All matterport plans allows for 'virtually' unlimited "inactive" tours but only a certain number of "active" tours. In simple form, active means viewable on the web. Inactive means not viewable on the web. Also, i am not entirely sure, but I believe Matterport owns the tour. As a photographer, I give clients a limited license release on all tours/pictures/etc. If I were you, i would do the same.

People who spend big bucks on bags usually don't care about quality. They care about status. If you have $10,000-100,000 to spend on a quality bag, why not get one custom made at *gtdupe* ? Choose your materials, thread, stitch pattern, design, and hardware. Imagine you have a $10,000 bag that's made from $7,000 of quality materials and $3,000 of labor. Currently, you're not paying for the materials, you're paying for the marketing.
