I had all these plans (making international friends) even before leaving home. I remember paying more than 40k naira to attend a webinar on making international connections; but when I got here, I just found myself tending toward my 'kinsmen'. Somehow, I lost interest in it. In my class, I was the only African (initially the only male but we have 2-3 more now but still the only African). I just continued building relationships with my own people. I sent that initial email [to you] with nothing more BUT to make friends 🙂I hope to get the energy back soon though...

Aww I can totally imagine how it will feel to be the only one! If you’re still in school, I don’t think you should give up on your initial plans just yet, it’s not easy but with time you’ll get more comfortable with people of diverse cultures if you’re intentional about it. All the best!
