My 2 cents I've had some massive pole bending drag pulling fish that just get of, I think they are getting hooked in the upper tooth patch instead of behind the tooth patch, then they roll and the hook comes out of their teeth

Good video. What do you think about these long ass fishing rod handles everybody puts out today? I hate em because they extend too far into the kayak, and then you have that longer rod to try and bring out of the holder when a fish has it under pressure. Thoughts?

The Catfish Sumo Golly Whopper rod is perfect if thats an issue for you. For me its a catch 22. If I get a rod with 2 short a handle it bugs me because I use my armpit for leverage when reeling in fish. However, handles to long get in the dang way all the time when I'm landing fish haha. This video was filmed a few months back. But once I'm all caught up you'll see I'm essentially down to 2 rods. Golly Whopper and Mad Katz bumping. Both have strong back bones, both can easily bump. Both can effectively hold 12-16 ounces up suspended no problem. And both have a schmedium length handle. Long enough for the pit leverage, short enough its not always in the way.

What # test do you use on your abu ambassadeurs. I'm just getting into serious catfishing and managed to grab the same reels as you so I thought I'd ask since you're the only other guy I can find that's using them, lol

I run just a few rows of 30lb mono as a backer. Then 55-80 pound braid. Some reel have 55 some have 80. I haven't respooled in years. I use 60 or 80 pound mono leaders and they always break before my main line. I can honestly say I haven't respooled a single reel in maybe 3-4 years unless they were brand new.

I feel it, man, the less respooling I have to do the better. I'd rather lose a leader than my entire rigging setup. I was thinking about throwing on some 30lb backing onto a 50lb main line for my first setup. Thanks for the advice, @@KayakMike
