How to measure a Tall Sunflower for Competition or State Record “Blue Ribbon Success”

Hey man, your not the only one! My sunflower are a month early this year and my local show highlights sunflower giant this year and it a disappointment for me this time around I have a month to go and already they are done. Heat wave this year might not of helped. Western Canada...m didn't even hit my low this time around of 11 feet. Cheer and happy giants. 🎉

Since you are measuring in a straight line. Can you straighten the sunflower stalk and head such that it is as tall as possible as it taping it to a rod, pipe, or board and that still counts or does it have to be how tall is it in it's natural shape? Also, do you need an unrelated / unbiased witness or judge to sign off on the measurement? Is a simple video submittal sufficient?

You can straighten the sunflower out naturally but if it has a bend in it and you break that bend to straighten it out that would DQ you. If you do have a judge or a witness that is preferred but a video is a must.
