The math for me is easier if you multiply 217 x .25 (3 inches as 3/12 =.25) = 54.25 Then divide 54.25/27 (cubic feet) = 2.009 yards needed at three inches. If course that doesn't help if you are buying bags but if your ordering the mulch in yards this way is less math. You can then convert how many yards you need to bags of course. Great job dude!!!

Thank you. Yeah that’s one way to calculate that. I usually use the mulch calculator on the Home Depot website sometimes as well.

I still don't know if I'm supposed to charge around $100 per yard PLUS material. Or the cost of material comes from the $100. Say I'm doing 1 yard of mulch installation and I need 13 bags which is around $50, should I charge $150 then?

How do you account for the space that the bushes take up? Up until now I basically just guess lol. Works out though
@EclipseLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
I don't account for the shrubs. It's better to have extra bags left over than not having enough.

I just charged $5600 for 18 yards of mulch, and I made 2, big beds maybe 10by20 and 40by20, and the mulch was already at customers house, so that $5600, all profit

My question for you is how much do you charge on top to lay fabric, weed, and redefine the bed as well. Because I assume you charge extra for that sir.
@EclipseLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
I always add a percentage on top of materials that I have to buy and pick up. That percentage is up to you

2.25 yards needed at 3” for 217 sqft.

Not sure if you have the utility but buying the mulch in bulk is due for a much heftier profit. It’s much cheaper than bagged. Might be $30 to buy a cubic yard in bulk.
@EclipseLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s much cheaper to buy bulk.

1 yard will cover roughly 150 sq ft with 2 inches of Mulch 1 yard will cover roughly 100 sq ft with 3 inches of Mulch. Take your flower beds. Add the sq footage. Say it's 450 sq ft. / 150 = 3 yards of mulch Yall don't need a math degree to calculate mulch.

Charge more!!! Let the crack heads do the chump change jobs. Move on if it’s too much for your customer. Make sure you get paid for every aspect of the job. Especially if you have to pick up and deliver. Our time isn’t free!!!! Use Preen before and after installing mulch also!!!!😃😃. Thanks for the video

Skip a step. If wanting 3 inches thick, that’s ¼ of a foot. Multiply total square footage by .25. Get same thing.

What do you mean skip a step? What difference would you do?
