You offer great information. I have reels from 3 generations and use some reels on a regular basis that i bought in the early 70's. I feel some old reals kept in good condition are fine functioning reels and merit that second chance without hesitation.

Sometimes I think I have an easier time finding parts for my vintage spinning reels than folks with modern spinning reels. I’ve never ordered drag washers this way but I’ve certainly measured and bought bearings like this. Good video Dennis! - Chris

You measured the thickness of the drag washers that are worn. Wouldn't you want the original dimension? Presumably the worn washers are thinner no? That reel is built just like a Browning I have, the side plate is in two pieces.

Yes. You likely would not find one of the thickness of a worn washer, so you would have to size up. If the worn one was .67 and the only size available was .75, then that is the one you would get - Thanks

Want to replace the one's on my Ocean City 981 went smoothdrag they don't carry ocean city or at least it wasn't listed..

Try the washers for the Penn 155. They would fit

Surely these could be made by yourself with a Stanley knife or similar.

That is an option if you purchase a sheet of Carbontex or other drag material
