Order materials? Cut sheets? Maybe you should manufacture the pieces on site. it's pretty easy to transport a roll, and you can make whatever lengths you need.

This is perfect for the shed I want to re-roof. Thanks!

Make sure you know what panels you want to use. After you know the measurement for that, it's pretty easy!

Hi, wouldn't the ridge tape cover a few inches anyway? so long its not below the cap. So as to not be cutting more than you have too.
@DigitalRoofingInnovations3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but if you're short, you are going to lose thousands and thousands of dollars only to save a little.
@kellygregg36883 жыл бұрын
@@DigitalRoofingInnovations how would you be short if the layout was done correctly? It simply doesn't make sense to cut the bottom hook on and then cut the top because it's too long...I'm sure the carpenter's squared it fairly well. I prefer like most to cut less as possible. Happy roofing!

@@kellygregg3688 When I am ordering over $100,000 worth of metal, I don't take chances. As a business owner, I can lose 1% on a job, but I am cautious so I don't go bankrupt on a project.

@@DigitalRoofingInnovations I'm not Insinuating you take a chance just measure correctly.

@@kellygregg3688 This video is how to teach homeowner's and new contractors how to measure for a metal roof, not someone who's been doing this for a decade. If you're not one of the former, this video doesn't apply to you. I am not going to advise a homeowner or a new contractor to try to get exactly right then they been a couple inches short and lose thousands of dollars. Then, I get a lawsuit in my lap because they want to blame me for watching my KZbin Channel. Reward vs. Liability. Have a good day.

Hi. Why did you divide by 12 when finding the length of the roof?
@zandemen9 ай бұрын
The number of pieces, each 13 inches wide, gave the total length in inches. Dividing by 12 gave him the length in feet.

Why are you replacing the standing seam metal roof? I thought these roofs lasted for decades?
@DigitalRoofingInnovations4 жыл бұрын
This was a project for the US Government (National Park Service) and they choose to replace it because it was leaking. That roof had been up there about 20-22 years. The problem was, it was installed correctly to begin with, but yes, a properly installed mechanically seamed 24-gauge standing seam metal roof should last for decades.

Most metal panels are from 36 to 48 inches that I see. But the video did not help at all. It is easy to figure out a square roof. One with different angles is the one you should be showing. How to figure out what the cut would be from one to the next on an angle cut.
@DigitalRoofingInnovations2 жыл бұрын
Most metal roofing panels are 12"-18" and gable roofs are the most common roofs in America. We have to help the majority more than the minority.
