Thanks Trevor...I'll soon be able to stand at the bar and nod sage like when geezers are talking motor car stuff. But seriously, the info you are imparting I've found both interesting and informative. And for me has dispelled a lot of the mystery surrounding motor vehicles. Cheers😂

Ive always heard the torque plate makes a huge difference when checking this. I was skeptical until i used one on a VG block last week!

New, these engines had much tighter tolerances than the typical US engine. The clearances you found were huge, UNTIL you remember that they were in 1,000ths of a MM which is roughly 40 thousandths of an inch, .050MM being roughly equal to .002"

Agree totally, on the flip side when I see stuff in Imperial I think WTF, then I remember. Cheers Mate.

When you get to the pistons and rods, please nerd out on setting ring gap! Also, will you be balancing the crank with the clutch and flywheel assembly?
@TheAussieShed6 ай бұрын
G'day Mate, the rotating assembly was supposedly balanced on the previous build, providing I don't rearrange the pistons & rods it should be okay. But.... due to everything being a bit shit i'll probably re-do it. Cheers.

Hi Trevor, where are you mate missing your videos, I hope all is ok.?
@TheAussieShed3 ай бұрын
Hi Wayne, thanks for asking. Yep, everything's fine. Well kinda. I've started a new job which has dramatically impacted my spare time. I've also been shutting down my business & winding that up. So, yeah, i'm going through a bit of a transitional period currently. The wife has also had me knocking over jobs around the house before taking this on for the same reason. Hopefully once i'm settled into this roll I can start popping out a few vids. Still doing stuff on the Z32 though, just no time to film & make videos. Cheers Mate.

That was pretty good explanation. Did you determine that the wear matched the claimed kilometers since the last rebuild? This is going to be one hot little machine.
@TheAussieShed6 ай бұрын
Hi Ben, yeah, pretty close i'd say. Hard to know for sure as a lot depends on how well it was put together. Cylinders were a bit inconsistent but probably due to some average machine work. Can't complain to much. Cheers Mate.

Btw, i am running 87.5 wisco pistons like you. And my power goals are like your as well. How much piston to wall clearance should it be, all things concidered?
@TheAussieShed6 ай бұрын
Check out the "Wiseco Piston to Wall Clearance Guidelines" on the Wiseco website. Can't go wrong. Cheers Mate.
@adamkleinschmidt30416 ай бұрын
.0025" is recommended from wiesco. I personally am running .0030"

@@adamkleinschmidt3041 How much boost are you planning on running Adam?
@adamkleinschmidt30416 ай бұрын
@TheAussieShed ill probably be in the 28-30psi range on psr2867r shooting for 700-800 rwhp
@TheAussieShed6 ай бұрын
@@adamkleinschmidt3041 Nice, have you looked at Wiseco's recommended clearance's for that boost level? Low Boost (up to 15psi) they specify an additional .0005 (.0030 total). Mid Boost (15-30psi) .001, & High Boost (30psi+) an additional .001 - .002, so a total of .00356 to .00456. Worst thing you can do is be to tight, food for thought. Hows your cracked head going?
