Is it possible to measure the DBH of trees which have multiple stem below 1.3 meters ?

In case of bifurcations below 1.3m one usually measures multiple dbh for the single stems separately. While recording the data you can assign a tree id number (same for all stems) + a stem id number. Then you are able to distinguish the individuals in the data later.

How to measure for two year old planted trees
@forestinventory3 жыл бұрын
For very small trees you probably need a different definition, dbh is not useful here. Sometimes a diameter close to the ground, just above the roots is measured for very small trees.

Chinese customers never know this, that's why they always ask for diameter measured on the smaller end of spruce logs instead of 1.5 m height.

We are here talking about standing trees in the forest. For logs, depending on the purpose, it might make sense to measure a minimum diameter at the smaller side. It might be a criterion for assortments on the wood market...
