In this case I use a diameter tape, which has a scale that directly translates the circumference into the diameter of a circular cross section (a metric scale that is stretched by the factor PI). Diameter tapes are widely used in forestry. See also kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2ixgZ6MjdmYn6ssi=-TunETpode0lfMhl

A bit shock when i was reading the list of the supervisors, Dr. Fabian Brambach. We did work in the same project. Great to know your research in Indonesia. Salam hangat from Indonesia!
@dimanamaryАй бұрын
Yes! Without the hard work of Fabian and his team several years ago, none of this would be possible ☺ I am very thankful for him and for all of the researchers who came before me!

This is my first time see the super huge caliper😭
@dismantledbrain5910Ай бұрын
I'm used to using a caliper for measuring tree diameter, so I was surprised when I saw most people in videos using measuring sticks or tapes for circumference.

I liked your phd thesis work in Indonesia. Tropical forests are unique and diverse in nature. We can observe variation in species composition in different plots. May I know which quadrate method did you used for the inventory of the species composition, and what was its size?
@dimanamary2 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the nice questions ☺️ we used 40m x 60m plots, divided into 10m x 10m quadrants. Over the entire plot, we measured diameters and tree heights for all stems >10cm. Then, within each quadrant, we measured stems down to 2cm in a 5m x 5m subplot. Hope that answers your questions 🤠
