How to Measure Your Dog for a Dog Coat

This short video shows you how to measure your dog for a dog coat.
Tools Needed:
A flexible tape measure (like a tailor uses) or a standard tape measure or ruler and a piece of string.
Steps:
1) Measure the the length of your dog's back - the distance from the base of the neck to the base of the tail
2) Measure the girth around your dog's chest.
Helpful tips:
Usually, just the length is sufficient for finding the correct size. Many dog coat sizes are simply labelled by the length in inches e.g. 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, etc.
Certain brands may also provide a girth recommendation for the coat size.
If a dog coat is an inch or two short or an inch or two long when you do put it on your dog, its usually not a problem, as long as the majority of their chest/core is protected by the coat. If your dog has an unusually deep/broad chest or an unusually narrow/slender chest you may find yourself adjusting to a slightly different coat length to adequately cover his or her core.
If you don't have a soft flexible tape measure, just use a string take the girth measurement - wrap it around your dog and mark where the tag end meets back up with the rest of the string. Then lay the string out on a flat surface and use a standard tape measure or ruler to measure the distance.

Thank you! ... every jacket up look up has a far stretch in sizes When I choose .. if the neck is good The length is too short or long Or if girth is just right ... again, neck or length is way to far off My dog is approx 24 L and girth 33.5(ish) Neck approx 19” (her collar size) Do you have a suggesting in size for her?? ... I am looking for a warm rain coat .. with possible hood or turtleneck?? Thank you!

It really is best if you can go somewhere to try them on your dog. But if that is not an option, look into Weatherbeeta dog coats and go for the blanket style (ones that do not cover the belly). They are usually the easiest type of dog coat to fit since girth and neck are not really an issue, just length.
