I lived in Japan for 6 years when I was younger. The two things that helped me the most to meet new people was to join a sports league/club, and to take arubaito as a bartender. Both of these really motivated me to improve my Japanese language as quickly as possible, and to make a lot of friends. You can do both of these things if you are a little shy like me and take some time to 'warm up' to people.

A few days ago I felt like I really wanted to see Japan. Now I'm signed up for an evening course in Japanese and on my way. Figured I should learn as many words as possible before I go and learn the grammar by talking to people. Naturally I have to go alone to make sure I *have* to socialize. Head first!

I think no matter what country you are in, if you can make friends in your country, you can make them in any country. The struggle seems to be more how to "find" them than how to "make" them. If the social skills are there, then the language barrier is a small bridge to cross. If not, well...

Hi. To be quick and short, I always wanted to meet a Japanese woman, I was trying to find an app where I can actually try to meet someone (not a robot/AI). I looked at Enicee like mentioned in your video but the app doesn't show up anywhere on Google store but the Facebook page, I found it. I am planning to travel over there and meet there

Looks like a well-organized party, except for getting political. I think Tokyo must have more options. A lot of people don't seem serious around Osaka in my experience.... My Meetup group hosts home parties, BBQs, hikes, picnics, etc. and we have over a thousand "members", but no one shows up, or they cancel at the last minute. All our attendees comes through personal invitations and friends on FB. I've been using dating apps and websites (Japanese and otherwise) for about fifteen years, but most girls hide their face, ghost, etc. I wanted to make my own dating app with better search parameters, but haven't found programmers that are interested in working on it.

Foreigner in Japan: I can't make friends or date someone Gee I don't know maybe make an attempt to learn Japanese, I mean even Japanglish will get you by more than just English and awkward vibes. You'll make so many friends, or romantic partners from learning their language. You can't date a person and move that relationship forward or get a deeper connection if you don't understand each other, and don't have a middle language to speak. Learning another persons language shows you can understand them even a little bit. My Aunt (American) met my Brazilian Uncle before he spoke fluent English, she spoke no Portuguese, however my Aunt knew Spanish from studying in College and from her time in Guatemala in the US Peace Corp in her 20s after College and my Uncle knew Spanish from his time in College back in Brazil and its similarities to Portuguese. They used Spanish to converse with each other, despite it not being the others native language. They ended up getting married, today my Uncle is fluent in English and my Aunt is learning and studying Portuguese, and getting better. It's amazing what learning other languages can do with barriers. Furthermore There's a famous Japanese American woman who's White American husband is deaf and mute, and they have a KZbin page, and she learned ASL (American Sign Language) and literally they have whole conversations and she translates for him into English for viewers. If that lady could learn something as complex as sign language and hold entire conversations in it, and translate it into English for viewers, a person can at least learn Japanese and make an effort to apply it. If your looking to meet girls or guys, than learn their language. If your already in an international relationship it's the utmost respect to attempt to learn your partners language even if they know yours. If your an American person attempting to date, dating or married to a Japanese person even if they speak English start learning Japanese, start practicing and studying now, getting signed up for classes.
