I love SHUN chan, one of the few I've subscribed and I know this is a comedic video, but just in case someone's looking for actual advice on dating, I'll condense all my knowledge into a few sentences. STOP TRYING TO F***K A GIRL THE MOMENT YOU MEET HER. Stop caring about if you're going to end up in a relationship, in bed, friends, whatever. Just one thing you should have in mind: 'This is an interesting person, I would like to spend time with them' with no purpose behind it. Not only that way you'll get to know the girl as a human being, and trust me you're probably one of the few that will do it, but you'll also increase you chances of being with her for a specific reason. Removing any purpose from the equation, will help you relax and get to know the girl, get to know her more, even bring your secret lovely traits that would either way be hidden if you tried to get in bed with her. You never know, she may actually be into you wearing your everyday pink Crocs. Have fun! Get to know people, it'll come to you!

"I wonder if this exists in overseas too" Well yes, for example I'm Dutch, so I'm from a relatively small country. Our country is divided into 11 provinces(regions) and there are quite some noticeable differences in manners, way of thinking and culture between those 11 provinces. Like how we perceive or approach certain things. Not in a way that it's insurmountable, many people end up in relations with people from other provinces but it is often easier when talking to people from the same province(or provinces near it) because you have a little more in common and share a bit more of the base mentality, things like how direct your approach can be when you express things/opinions to someone. Somehow it's just easier to get along with people from your own region. For example there are some rivers running through the Netherlands and many people living south of those rivers tend to like the mentality & manners more of those from "under the rivers"(literally translated) than those born and raised above them. About confessing, it's usually very okay to say you like someone before going on a date or something like that. Asking someone on a date is basically admitting to that anyways, but to truly confess in the way of 'I love you' or 'I really, really like you' is very rare and will often be seen as weird when you don't already have a long established connection with them. I think it stems from the mindset that "You cannot love someone until you really know them and how can you really know someone if you haven't spend a lot of time with them" and that if you confess before you really get to know someone it kind of feels superficial, because there's probably a lot about that person(both their way of thinking/doing things) that you don't know about. That's not to say you have to know absolutely everything about someone before you can 'love' them, but it's felt that you at least should know them well. However this does really change from person to person and I feel like it's kind of tied with how impulsive your personality is and for what reasons you want to be liked as a person yourself.

So I found my way here when thinking about my boyfriends from japan. I felt as though the dating process with them were very different. Did I feel as though the boys I dated from Tokyo were definitely more cold, maybe even distanced? It almost like they was really overly concerned about everyone judging them. while on the other hand, my boyfriends from Osaka were more open to expressing PDA. As a first-generation American-Latina PDA is defined very differently for me than perhaps others since I understand a lot of the "lack" of PDA. (in contrast to American PDA) interestingly enough I think the only boyfriends who asked me about PDA were from Osaka, and after I explained to them how American and Mexican Latinos usually show affection in public they put forth a lot of effort to communicate with me in my love language. Even though we broke up I am still friends with them to this day because they really showed me what an amazing type of person they were. (We broke up due to distance.)

So very few people seem interested enough to send a message with good wishes, that when they do, I read it as: I am thinking about you. I care. Honestly, that means more to me, than fluffy small-talk..

In the US, like the comparison you made between CA and TX, we definitely have different subcultures and habits. It's not as stark of a contrast as it used to be since we all move around more, but it's still pretty commonplace for most of us to prefer the kinds of people who share our habits and interpretations.

that discussion about calling people by their first name was CUTE AF. (Also i feel like rules regarding names is the rare social convention that could actually be useful (as opposed to those done merely for the sake of appearing polite))
@harvestmoon_autumnsky3 жыл бұрын
I've never even heard of it. So people in Japan just call each other by their last name in school and such? Don't a lot of people have the same last name? I guess a lot of people have the same first name too though. I'm a teacher and for the longest time I had kids calling me by my last name, which is Mrs.---------. That's pretty traditional. But most of my colleagues went to just fist names with their students and I prefer it so much. Being called by my last name makes me feel really old.
@shaowenang3 жыл бұрын
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky I'm not Japanese, but I believe you don't address people by their first name unless you're familiar with them (family and close friends etc). Which is why i suggested that using just the first name is effective at hinting at a close bond that one already shares (or perhaps hopes to develop...?). I imagine you could also come across as rude or presumptuous if you do this too soon. There is also a system of honorifics that one adds to names to convey due deference to a senior or general respect to a stranger.
@harvestmoon_autumnsky3 жыл бұрын
@@shaowenang Thanks. I guess that would be extremely useful for westerners to know before going to Japan. To me it seems rude to call someone by their last name. Like you're an object and not an individual person.
@shaowenang3 жыл бұрын
@@harvestmoon_autumnsky Yes, I see how it could appear that way. Incidentally, they do this at English boarding schools of repute, as well. Make of that what you will.

Shun, you dont have a problem with your appereance. Try to work on your self confidence, be a good person but love and respect yourself. It really is true what they say, confidence is really important. Trust me, Im a girl. I've been many times in the situation where i meet a coworker for example and I think nothing about them, but then with time I start seeing their funny, they are kind, they are confident... And I start to see their beauty. Im talking about this when Im the one who should be self confident but hey, it's not easy...

There's a great book called "The Confidence Code" written by 2 American women who break down what determines confidence based on research and the best science to date. It's a mix of things. Good news is that it can be learned and the book offers excellent strategies for doing so. Worth a read for anyone who perceives that as a personal weakness.

Yeah. I also find it bizarre that people would base my personality on my blood type, and I also don't believe in anything related to zodiac signs. In summary I am not a believer in superstitions. Plus people can change too, so someone personality in a span of 10 years could be totally different.
