How to melt aluminum cans at home... by melting metal in a fire pit. This is aluminum, and I made a small yard token.
It's really cheap and easy to do with a foundry. I'm only going to do this a couple times for fun, so no need to pay for expensive gear for me.
Watch out, because with #BillandTed3 coming out, things are going to be even more stocked!

Man I don't like to be like this but please be more careful, it looked like you used wet sand, you can cause an eruption like that, and wear molten aluminum on your face. A couple other things, wear fr clothing, including actual pants, and be careful with that steel can, they can warp fast and cause the bottom to pop and throw slag every where.

I built a charcoal foundry and I use a tiy can. The charcoal can also be used to purify slag and candy wrappers and most steel crucibles are one time use only so you are basically using not only the cheapest but the more efficient way too! Electric arc and coal could reach a high enough temperature to even melt steel.

I would probably just make ingots tbh... investing in a mold for it would also be good, as that would be better for making them... in my case. I don't have steady hands at all lol. Didn't think a campfire would get hot enough to do this. Seems I will be able to melt cans soon :D

I'm not even going to pretend I know anything about this 🤣. So does melting the cans bring more money at the recycler? Do you sell it or do you use it to make something else? Why do I ask? Because we live out in the country and burn our trash, the aluminum cans are driving me nuts,. They take up too much space and don't burn in the burn barrel. If I can go what you've showed here then less cans would go into our landfill.

hey bra ik u say dont do this at home but i was about to do it. it would be really helpful to add some info at the beginning about safety. casting molten metal can be very dangerous and ppl will see this vid and think all they need is a steel can and some gloves. if u spill molten metal on concrete that has moisture in it, the concrete can explode and send metal spewing all over. i just watched a vid of a guy that had a small brown spot on his safety glasses that he said was from a drop of molten metal that would have hit his eye if he hadnt been wearing them. if theres any way to edit the video it could save lives
