Thank you Michael ! I like the idea of naming groups of steps - and reminding me that it's ok if only I know what they mean.

Great tips, Michael. For example, I see this difficult foxtrot step I would have to do in competition - Fallaway Reverse and Slip Pivot. I know keenly what Fallaway is - I start the reverse turn in a reverse counter promenade - which is like you are "falling away" as you turn - so that is why it is called a "fallaway promenade position." Reverse - keenly I know it is a left-handed turn. I know what "pivot" is - a type of toe or heel turn that rotates usually on the spot with at least part of the foot remaining on the ground (or sometimes in continuity, or progressing just a bit), and I know that the pivot is a cross between a "spin" and a "turn" combined in its actions. The "slip" - something in one foot or another "slips" after the pivot is done. That is how I would know what "Fallaway Reverse Slip Pivot" is - just by visualizing it.
