@jen3800 Жыл бұрын
it's supercardiod, so your amp should be off axis. there's a huge lobe at the rear of the mic and a big fat one at the front. look it up. Beginner's guide to super cardioid mic - SYNCO Supercardioid recording microphone features an extremely directional polar pattern. With null points at 127° and 233° and a back lobe of sensitivity speakers themselves have dispersion characteristics as well. it's voodoo!

THe mic must not mount from the bottom. How are you supposed to play the very hight notes if the mic is mounted there.
@DPAmicrophones2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It all depends on your playing style, but you can mount it just about anywhere on the guitar's body that you want. That said, many acoustic players never reach the very high notes - especially not on guitars without cutaway. Some do, of course, and in that case, another position should probably be used.

PLs, How difficult are the sound problems in a guitar and tabla combo. (DPA 4099 on the guitar)?
@DPAmicrophones2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcus. Thanks for reaching out. Obviously, it depends on how close the two musicians are located to each other. But 4099 has a supercardiod mic capsule and if you use 4099 on both the guitar and the tablas, there shouldn't be that much bleed to cause any problems in a live sound setting.
@MarcusCorbett2 жыл бұрын
@@DPAmicrophones thank you. However...what about sound reflections from monitor speakers to guitar body to mic ?
@DPAmicrophones2 жыл бұрын
There can be some bleed, but again since it is a supercardiod capsule, it is a very directional mic that picks up what is directly in front of it. We made 4099 for live applications and it is being used each and every day on live stages everywhere - in some cases the artisst uses in-ear systems, but many also use stage monitors without problems. :-)

Beautiful. Happy to be able to buy it this month finally. One thing. Wouldn't make it more sense to have the mic top down rather bottom up when singing? Also I have a harmonium here which I would like to record apart from my acoustic. Does it need additional clip or equipment to record harmonium?
@DPAmicrophones3 жыл бұрын
HI. Sounds great! Yes, if you sing at the same time, it may make sense to point the 4099 downwards, as the capsule does have a supercardioid directional pattern. But you should try a variety of ways to mount it and see what works the best for you. Depending on the size and exact shape of your harmonium, you may be able to find a way to use the guitar mount for that as well. Otherwise, you may want to check out some of the other mounts we have for 4099: www.dpamicrophones.com/instrument/4099-instrument-microphone (scroll down and fold out e.g. the Clamp Mount section). Hope this helps! 😃

@DPAmicrophones4 жыл бұрын
Yes, we have seen that many times. 😃 Depending on 'carve' you could place it closer to the neck - or you could mount it on the top half of the guitar. The neck of the mic i flexible and can be bend in any direction.
@TheVigilantStewards4 жыл бұрын
@@DPAmicrophones So you would go for the strings and not the f hole? I was reading on Sweetwater's website that even their customers had complaints about flimsy mounting for guitar. How long will it be before you guys get a redesign on that piece? Or maybe put out a 3D printable option or something
@DPAmicrophones4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, focused on the 'carving' question and not the 'archtop'. On an acoustic with carving, as mentioned, we have seen that many times and on acoustics, yes you cold easily experiment with going for the strings as well as the hole depending on your guitar, preference and style. As can be seen in this review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6nHp2ajep5roJo But on a semi-acoustic archtop with an F-hole, it may be different. Since it produces less acoustic sound, going for the strings might be a problem, but even the F-hole may not be enough. You would have to experiment with it, and possible comine a mic'ed signal with the pickup sound. 😃

A few questions... How does it compare to the H5 mic capsule for recording? On this demo they seem pretty close. Any good sugestions for a pairing? Can you use it on a regular stand? How many volts of phantom power? In live usage how does it compare to shure sm57 and sm81 and ear trumpet edwina in terms of feedback? How sturdy/durable is it? I've seem some people with failed capsules after heavy use.
@NikolaiBeier4 жыл бұрын
The needed voltage depends on which adapter is used. The microphone itself has a coaxial microdot connector that need a certain bias voltage. So, look up the specific adapter, fx one of the XLR adapters and see what it works with. (The XLRs works best around 48 V) The adapter matches the supply voltage from e.g. a wireless transmitters minijack socket (5-ish V) or 48 V phantom power til the needed bias on the microdot connector.

As good as the mic might be, the adjustable clip for the guitar is a pain in the ass. As I've learned that the mic is produced as a high class product in denmark, the clip must have been fabricated in any low cost asian country. Once mounted it fells off easily. It's just a matter of minutes. As long as the manufacturer doesn't find a solution for this problem, which makes the mic unusable, this product is not recommendable!
