Everytime I needed to check something related to percussions you always came up in the results and I can't complain, straight to the point, no nonsense and very useful tips... I'll definitely check out your patreon or whatever you may offer. Thanks for the great attitude.

Kalani, Wow, I’m stoked I found your video, and I remember you well from the Yanni days on DVD. (And live). Less hair now, I see. Looks great either way. So, I was looking up best mics and techniques for percussion mic setup, and I found this video. I’ve got a 7 piece cover band here in Nashville, and we now have a percussionist. Well, she’s a BGV singer, who is becoming a percussionist. (She used to play bass, and has great timing). So, I think I’m closer to choosing which mic in my arsenal I will put onto her congas. I think I will either go eight my SM57, or my Audix i5. Oh, and one more thing. I ended up being called to play keys at Charlie Adams’ studio here in Nashville some 12 years ago or so. Great fella. He even showed interest in me maybe playing keys for his band Plain James I think it was? Anyway, we lost touch. Hey, I love your teaching, and your well informed all around music technique and knowledge. Mucho respect! Anyway, I’m Shane Irwin, and I’m stoked to have seen you here. Cheers!

I was really wondering how to use a microphone for amplifying the Bongo sound for playing in open environment or auditorium.

Great content! Do you have any experience miking drums like bongos/congas/djembes from both the top and the bottom on separate tracks? The idea would be to have a fuller separate bottom end to manipulate as needed....

Would you not recommend a small diaphragm condenser mic with maybe a circular characteristic for let's say, busking and home-recording?

On the top, yes. I often add a bottom mic for the bass tone and EQ them to bring out the high and low tones.

Dear sir , Please tell us what are the notes that we should tune the bongos. (For standard tuning ) Thank you so much Waiting for your reply Thanks again
@WORLDDRUMCLUB2 жыл бұрын
Specific notes are not required, just tube them up so they have the quality you want. Drums are often about a fourth apart, but don’t need to be that specific.
