Yes as long as the power cord is plugged in the usb. There are two parts that need to be plugged in, the hdmi and the USB power. Depending on the power plug you are using it should charge but it will be quite slow.

The device has blue tooth support so if you have a bluetooth speaker connect that from your phone. I found this method still rather buggy and recommend the less buggier and more accessible firestick method.

Sound can be projected through a bluetooth speaker or aux cable connected to your TV. Also check your TV settings and determine if it is played internally or externally. What part of the cable is getting hot, the power part or the hdmi part? Are you using a usb power brick or usb from the Tv itself, worst case scenario it could be a malfunctioning product, these products are quite cheap and I recommend the alternative Smart TV option such as an Amazon Alexa and smart share the screen through that. There are multiple issues, do you both USB power cords plugged in and did you downloaded the most updated miraplug app? Are you using a really old device, is the TV on the right HDMI channel? Do you have the adapter plugged into the hdmi and usb power source? And do you have the mira plugin software installed? There are many mira plugins try using a different one. I pretty much have only been interested in watching KZbin tutorials on my big screen monitor and Hulu but no Netflix or anything else. Also my phone does not have USB c it has standard USB.

It may be used for any android type advice including tablets. Again the usb to hdmi adapter works but using a smart tv device to share screen is recommended. KZbin videos will work when maximized however hulu and netflix may not work with the adapter likely due to legal reasons.

There's only one problem with this method you can't connect a full size keyboard and mouse which is completely sad I know of at least 30 people that have come up with the same idea I have which is an all-in-one USB docking station whatever you want to call it that goes to HDMI to your TV so you can hook up everything that you could possibly want to hook up but the problem with that is the idiots that get control of these tablets and stuff before you actually pay good money for it and turn a bunch of crap off block a bunch of crap don't even put it into the software so nothing ever works right nothing works universal which is completely and utterly pathetically ignorant
